Noah Spence and Darian Thompson should be our 1st two picks

2016

Bosa

Spence

2015

Fowler

L.Williams

2014

Clowney

K.Mack

Yea i'm all about pass rush

Haha nice. I was pretty much the same.

Best call I've ever made was David Johnson. I said he was going to be the biggest steal of the draft and he was. That man is beast.

Anyway, during the senior bowl, I had that feeling with Spence that he should get a sack every time the QB dropped back. Watching someone like Andre Branch I usually have to pray that he gets close to QB.

Wonder how Gus would use Spence here? It's already been said Fowler would start at LEO and then over time be moved around a little more so if we draft Spence he won't be starting there for a while. Would be very interested to see him play at OTTO, because Spence looked very impressive rushing out of the 2 point stance. We only use the OTTO like 50-60% of the time and then he could also rotate at LEO and the other end spot in the lightning package.

Wash already said Fowler wouldn't be a candidate for the OTTO and I would assume if you draft Spence (in the top 5) then you are going to want him to start, so the OTTO spot makes sense to me.

For his first season I could see him rotating with Fowler at LEO, and being a key sub for the Pass Rusher package (Lightning?). Let him learn how to do one thing for his first year which for most rookie pass rushers is a learning year with reduced production anyhow. Ain't nothin' wrong with having lots of Pass Rushers and keeping them fresh.

I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

After watching the senior bowl game, as well as hearing analysis from those in attendance, I'm on board with taking Spence with the 5th pick. The only thing which "might" make me change this opinion is if he invited Bradley and Caldwell to his room to do "ecstacy" following his amazing performance in the game!

This team has won something like 10 games in Bradley's 3 years with the team. Their schedule is extremely hard so they need to take a chance on this guy.

Absolutely.

I will definitely be interesting in seeing where Spence is projected to go over the next few weeks. A week ago, he could've easily been had in the 2nd, then he moved up to the late 1st, and now he's moved up again. Production wise, he is easily worth the pick at 5, but Dempsey and O'Halloran were just talking about how serious teams view/viewed his off the field problems. I absolutely love that Gus was able to spend a week with him to really get a feel for the kid.

Still think best case scenario would be to get a guy at 5 (Bosa/Ramsey) and then move back into the 1st to get Spence.

Stinking up interviews next month is all it takes. Nobody needs to see a drug to know what the risk is. I don't care how good Noah Spence is if he does not prove his drug problems are behind him.

I think we may be over complicating some things. If we drafted Spence, we would see a lot of Fowler on one side and Spence on the other. Just like how we saw Clemons and Branch and how Dave wants his Freeney and Mathis.

They would make it work.

If Spence fell out of the top 12 picks, I wouldn't be surprised to see Dave trade back up into round one and take him. He was going to do the same with either Gurley or Gordon last year, per reports. It'd be a steep move, but the team could reap the benefits of a Fowler-Ramsey-Spence defense for the next decade.

Dave will not trade up that far to pick him. Moving up a long way is very expensive and we can get a good player at 38.

But what if Dave can take a player he likes at #5 overall, then trade up into the top 15 and still keep his Second Round pick? What if a team is willing to take our 2017 First Round pick and a collection of 2016 late round picks? Might be far-fetched but crazier things have happened. If a scenario like this plays out, it'll be like getting the 2016 First Round pick a year early.

If Dave likes a player at #5, he will pick him then, obviously.

This is an interesting thought. If Dave feels like it's absolutely put up or shut up this year for both he and Gus, maybe he would be more willing to mortgage some of the future in order to make things happen now.

Well if you're in win now mode the best way to address that is in Free Agency. Sign Von Miller regardless of what it will cost with the franchise tag in place.

Agreed. It will also be interesting to see if it impacts his draft strategy.

Btw I have a feeling we are going to be major players in FA this year.

If Von Miller by some miracle hits the Free Agency, Dave and Shad better have him on the yacht with a blank checkbook the second FA begins.

Me too. I hope they hit on someone they really want (like Devin McCourty last year).

Ugh I wish. I personally believe we have no shot at him.

I want Jaye Howard and Olivier Vernon.

This was from last week and is my attempt to hang on to hope at Von Miller on the Jags:

Everybody around the league expects the Denver Broncos to use the franchise tag on linebacker Von Miller, but if he somehow hits free agency, expect the Jaguars to make a big play for Miller. Jacksonville has a ton of money available and they badly need a difference-maker on the defensive side of the ball. If Miller isn't slapped with the tag, the Jaguars are willing to overpay to get him to come to Jacksonville.

But yeah, it is much more likely and realistic that an Olivier Vernon will be one of the Jag's main targets. I also think Dave will try and bring in as many guys as possible, so he can truly go BAP in the draft.
