Don't fear losing the #1 pick

I really want Teddy but if not then Clowney at 2 and who knows maybe Carr or Bortles in the 2nd. Plus no guaranteeing Teddy will be the top pick by the time the draft rolls around

Except this isn't baseball. it takes more then a pitcher to decide games.Your analogy is pretty bad. A QB is far more important to a team than a starting pitcher in baseball. Quote:Of course there are no fail safes but the better the draft pick, the better the chance of getting the guy they want.I hope our GM is not so inept that the success of his tenure isn't connected to the first overall pick of every draft. Can you imagine the horror of some of you if the Jags had to pick 32nd this year. It's like a nightmare for so many of you. :whistling:
What lies behind us, and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.

Quote:I hope our GM is not so inept that the success of his tenure isn't connected to the first overall pick of every draft. Not every draft, just the one that is QB heavy in a year when this team desperately needs one. The draft is largely based on luck. Why not give this team a better chance of getting lucky instead of taking whoever is left? I don't mind drafting 32nd if this team had a franchise QB and needed a guard.
Quote:The draft is largely based on luck. Why not give this team a better chance of getting lucky instead of taking whoever is left? The draft is NOT "largely" based on luck. If it was, anyone could be a GM. If the draft is "largely" based on luck then it would be wise to trade away top draft picks for multiple later round picks since luck would favor the team with more picks than teams with fewer picks. Quote:Give me Clowney in the 1st and Manziel in the 2nd.. ![]() Wouldn't take Manziel in the 3rd, let alone the 2nd. If we take Clowney in the first I hope Carr or Mettenberger fall to us in the 2nd.
I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

Teddy > Carr > Clowney > Barr for the Jags. Throw Mariota in at 2 or 3 if he declares. Franchise QB prospect above all and this draft only has 2 or maybe 3 (again depending on Mariota) bonafide franchise QB prospects.
Quote:Your analogy is pretty bad. A QB is far more important to a team than a starting pitcher in baseball. Not really. A pitcher can produce a shut out and a couple of plays a team wins. If a qb does that. A defense has to stop the other team. A shootout matters none if cant stop other team from scoring.

Thursday night will pretty much be the Teddy bowl.
LEONARD FOURNETTE FAN CLUB PRESIDENT. I WAS BEHIND HIM WHEN YOU ALL SAID HE WAS BRANDON JACOBS. QUIT HATING ON THE JAGUARS. GUS IS GONE. COUGHLIN HAS RESTORED ORDER. FOURNETTE IS FRED TAYLOR. DONT BELIEVE ME JUST WATCH.
Over an extended period of time, Caldwell will make some choices which don't pan out, so let's not delude ourselves that no matter where we pick in next year's draft, it is automatic we get an elite player.
However, all this teeth-gnashing and bed-wetting about not getting Bridgewater because we are winning is getting old and annoying. For me, winning is good and I will sweat the draft after the season. Right now, I am enjoying winning our first back-to-back wins since 2010.

When we wake up on Dec 30th with a pick in the 2-5 range however, we will be wishing we could trade one of these late wins in for the #1 overall draft pick.
I'm scouting Carr against Rutgers right now... my goodness this guy is good.
