Jags and Bruce Irvin
|
Quote:Irvin is slowly adding more follows, he's now following Allen Hurns and Mike Kaye. Looks like he's in the bag. Caldwell and/or Khan and Gus must have some wink nod agreement going on.

Irvin is almost a sure thing at this point. He's gonna get a good paycheck here. He can rush the passer and drop into coverage. We're also becoming more attractive of a team because our offense has been turning heads.
Quote:Biggest troll job ever if he doesn't come to Jax lol.Seriously though, I almost wish he wouldn't have done this because he's making this week wait worse. I was excited but ok waiting a week, now I seriously can't. I'm constantly checking his follows and waiting for someone to say something on Twitter. We show less advertisements to registered users. Multiple sources are saying it's either Jax or ATL and it's looking more and more like Jax bye the day.

Fact is, certainly not a given considering he said a year ago he's going to Atlanta once FA opens. There's been plenty of talk about him going there. You just never know though, I like Irvin a lot but he seems like a guy that isn't always serious. Just could totally see him laugh it off afterwards.

Shock the world

Right now I feel like he goes elsewhere just because it would kill about every Jags fan out there. Just feels like something like that would happen to us...

Quote:Even if he goes somewhere else, we will be fine. Money talks!Yeah for sure, but he's a better fit than most of the other guys. He comes from the defense we run, we desperately need to upgrade the coverage and pass rush on this team and he'd be big upgrades for both.
Meanwhile, Ryan Davis has a cryptic tweet or two on whether he will be back.
I would want Davis to stay if Irvin is signed, but it seems like Davis fell out of favor with Gus last year. Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!

They must not have told him one way or the other on if they're tendering him. Last season it was $1.5million for right of first refusal and $2.4million for a second round tender, so it would make sense to at least give him the former and then make a decision on him if a team offers him a contract.
Not to be a party pooper but I don't get the excitement over signing Bruce Irvin. I mean he's a solid player but I'm not sure he's that much of an upgrade over Skuta.

I mean he's a solid player but I'm not sure he's that much of an upgrade over Skuta. Think of a better and slightly young version of Skuta. Irvin can play the run well enough, he has the speed and ability to drop into coverage, and he provides a much better pass rush. He's actually someone the opponents have to take note of where he is on the field because of his versatility as opposed to Skuta who is a solid player, but nothing special. Irvin is practically everything Gus wants in an OTTO. Adding Irvin should likely move Skuta into more of a role player/backup role as he can come in on some blitz packages or just stick his hand in the dirt and rush the passer a bit. Just based off of our current personnel and Irvin, I could see a line on 3rd and long of Skuta-Fowler-Marks-Irvin to get after the QB. Edit: Just for reference NFL.com lists him as the 5th best free agent, ProFootballTalk lists him at 3rd, and SBNation 9th. ![]() Quote:Bruce Irvin @BIrvin_WVU11 Mar 1 I wonder if Dave gets hit with tampering.
