There's a scenario were we pick up Myles Jack if we fall back to #15.  Draft night is on a full moon and everybody forgets that Myles Jack exists.  They just all say, "Ahhh fiddlesticks!  We coulda gotten him!  Oh well."  So whammo, Caldwell hands in the draft card.  After that, all the Jaguars cheerleaders pick me up in a Ferrarri limo from Sherwood's (the best bar ever), but instead of partying in the back of the limo, I decide to drive because I rule.  I rule so hard that everyone gets off I-95 and I book it all the way to New York to tell Caldwell good job.  He thanks me and gives me a fafillion dollars, so I call Shad Khan and say "lemme borrow that yacht player," he says "I won't even charge you because you rule so hard."  So then I get on the yacht with all the babe cheerleaders.  They all say "Oh Bman, you're the coolest."  I say, "I know," then I wink at all of them, except when I wink it's dang awesome the ocean trembles and forms a tidal wave.  I look at that tidal wave and say "Settle down sucka!  Don't make me break your face, fool!"  The wave disperses and immediately apologizes by throwing tons of gold onto Khans' yacht, which is now my gold.  After that, I take all that money and I'm able to pay my Comcast bill.

I suspect you might have posted something similar if someone posited a scenario that John Henderson would be available at 9, Stroud available at 13, Watt available at 11, Marino being available at 27, Warren Sapp being available at 11, Emmitt SMith being available at 17, Aaron Rodgers being available in the 20s, etc.

If Ray Lewis, who didn't have a college knee injury anywhere near as serious as Myles Jack, could fall all the way to 25th or so, why is it hard to believe Myles Jack could still be available at 7 if two QBs and a LT go in the top 5?

I dont buy it, unless Tunsil/Ramsey/Jack/Bosa go 1-4.

 

Even if that were to happen, why would they trade with us? We aren't selecting a QB and the team behind us isnt drafting a QB. If a team really loved one of Goff or Wentz, they would be on the phone with Baltimore to jump SF.

 

They might trade with us because we lead them to believe another team is going to trade with us.   It doesn't matter if we're not picking a QB, as long as we give the impression that there is a team that is going to trade up to our spot and take that QB. 

 

We just tell the Rams we've been talking to SF, and we tell SF we've been talking to the Rams.

There are a bunch of teams that you could make an argument for a need at QB, and a pick at or close to the cap that Dave hinted he may trade back to....

Yes, they just acquired Bradford last year.  However, Chip Kelly, they guy who brought him in, is gone, as are many of his acquisitions.

 

They are also accumulating later picks.  They traded RB DeMarco Murray to the tacks for a swap of 4s and they have two 3rd round picks.

 

Back to the Bradford trade, the Rams now have the Eagles 2nd round pick.

 

They have the ammunition to move up to our pick if they so desire.  They could use one or more of those 2nd round picks to either send to us, or to try to replace Quinn.

The Niners will be doing everything in their power to prevent a tradeup by any of those QB needy teams. I expect the Ravens to ultimately be the team that trades down, though.

More than likely he stays put and gets his player. If his player is not there he will try to trade down. If he can't find a team to trade with, he will draft whoever is the next best player on his board. I don't think the Eagles will trade up for a QB or even select one because They have Bradford and didn't they sign Chase Daniel to a 7 mill a year deal?

There seem to be a lot of good defensive players in this year's draft but not that many Really good ones. I was reading this article

I believe this is our last time drafting in the top 5 for the foreseeable future so best to stay put (barring nightmare scenario of Ramsey/Bosa/Jack being off the board). We need to come out of this draft with an impact, game changing type defensive player.

Ray Lewis dropped because of character concerns, not because of a knee injury.


 

Speaking of which, I think Spence is the best pass rusher out there by far, but has character concerns. He should be in play in a trade back scenario.
