I just don't know what to expect right now. There is no clear answer. I'm in sit and wait mode and if it is Floyd, then fine by me. Sack the QB.

We'll just have to wait and see.

I'm always in that stance for our picks. Only time I wasn't is when we took Alualu who was obviously WAY overdrafted.

Floyd is a consensus top 10-15 prospect, if we pass, he's going to go right around 10-12. He would be a great fit on this defense, brings in an edge rusher that we desperately need and has nice upside. Hard for me to get pissed about it. Dave has done great drafting besides in his first year, but that was in a horrendous draft class. I'm honestly behind what Dave is going to do, I respect what he's done and we haven't had this much potential/talent in a long time. Once he does things to make me think differently, than fine. But if he thinks Floyd would slot in at OTTO/LEO and has serious upside as a good edge rusher, take the guy. I'd much rather take a guy he likes and thinks would do well here than take a guy that would be a square peg in a round hole. Bosa is a big name, but I just don't see the love with him in this scheme we currently run. If we were in a tradition 4-3 I'd feel differently.

Think about it this way:  Let's say Dave has Floyd as his #8 player on his board.

or he might have categories of players - the top or elite category, just for the sake of argument:

ramsey

elliot

buckner

jack

the "could be elite" category:

tunsil

floyd

stanley

bosa

If he thinks Floyd is a good fit/need and has minimal character concerns - I could see that be the pick.

NFL.com has him tied for 8th on their big board, for instance.

But he'd be an incredible reach at 5...

:whistling:

Sorry, but I just don't get that line of thinking. I agree that 5 seems high, but he's mocked/viewed as a top 10-15 prospect already. Most have him as a lock to NYG at 10. Why have most on here been loving Lawson who is seen in the same range but Floyd is some crazy out of this world pick?

If Jack's knee is fine, I'll be upset with this pick. I think it's pretty obvious the only way we'd take Floyd is if it wasn't if Jack's on the board though. Jack and Ramsey are the only two players that I think are guys you HAVE to take if they are there and everything is good to go medically/mentally.

Yeah. I'm really intrigued by Floyd and his ability to rush. What I see as a pass rusher is the same thing I saw from Justin Houston as a pass rusher. Against the run though....

And that ultimately what made me not consider him for my Top 5.

This has Alualu selection written all over it.

I just know I remember seeing that 84 everywhere watching Georgia games.

What are you even talking about....you either had very little draft knowledge that time of the draft or you're just trying to continue your "The sky is falling" attitude towards everything.

Alualu was a projected 2nd rd pick. Floyd is a consensus top 10-15 prospect, and someone said he was at #8 on NFL.com's big board I believe. They aren't similar in any way.

Taking Floyd at 5 would be a major reach, just like the Alualu pick. Floyd in the 20's is fine, but at 5, awful. Very similar, both major reaches.

No, it's really not a major reach when he's been rumored around Tampa and NYG, and numerous outlets see him as a top 10-12 pick. Picking him at 5 isn't a "major reach", especially when you factor in how he'd fit in this scheme.

Taking a guy projected a whole round later in round 2 at 10th overall is a major reach.

They aren't close to the same thing. One is already projected to go top 10 and you take him at 5. How is that characterized as a "major reach".

Well, just watches path to the draft, Ian rappport says looks like its Floyd to the jags at 5, as jags front office compares him to Bruce Irvin.

Well, I'm out. Peace.

Haven't seen that anywhere on twitter. You sure he's not just repeating what Peter King and Mike Mayock said?
