Poll: Should the UK remain with the European Union?

Brexit

Here's good article about some of the questions about Britain leaving the EU. I especially noticed this part:

Quote:

But many of those who argue for a leave vote on sovereignty grounds nevertheless still want Britain to have the best possible trading relationship with other EU states, which makes sense since most of our exports go to them. They say they would like Britain to stay in the European single market as far as possible. Both Norway and Switzerland are in the single market but not the EU, so there is precedent here. The problem is that the rest of the EU sees free movement of people as one of the fundamental pillars of the single market. In other words, the price of retaining access to the EU market is likely to be allowing free movement of people.

I think that if the migrant crisis hadn't happened the UK would still be in the EU today.

Switzerland is a dynamo but their economy is .5 trillion dollars. The british GDP is 3 trillion dollars. They will have considerably more leverage in negotiating access to the single market. Also, the basic demand on immigration isn't that draconian. They aren't trying to bar the German executive that has an office in London. They just don't want to be swamped or overrun with refugees and dependents. That should get worked out.

Also, they might be 4 months away from a pro trade president in the Whitehouse. If Boris Johnson paints a path for a US UK trade agreement then its going to take a few more marbles away from Brussels.

Who is the potential pro trade president in the Whitehouse you are referring to?

I think Farage and Johnson did a great job whipping up fear around the migrant crisis to their advantage and the Remain campagne a did terrible job calling them out or refuting them on their claims.

My sentiments as well.

Bit ironic that Britain would colonize half the world and then complain about immigrant crisis.

In January a thousands Muslim youths terrorized the women of Germany. What's there to call out or refute?

When the Muslim mayor of London started talking about banning advertisements that depicted women uncovered what did people really think was going to happen?

Don't go bombing their native homelands and they won't come knocking at your door.

Simple really.

On a side note, India is flabbergasted at the thought that Britain would leave with a simple vote.

BTW, Scotland is making serious moves towards another "Leave the UK" referendum. I wonder how much is left of the 5th largest economy if Scotland does decide to leave.

The 4th largest economy since Scotland is a drain on the rest of the UK?

The majority of natural resources within the UK are in Scottish territory. It was even a major point in the first referendum.

That's baiting with a red herring. The London mayor's proposal had nothing to do with his religion. I think it was misguided, but his objection was against ads that create unrealistic expectations for young women.

No, but I can spot a hypocrite a mile away. You think talking about white men in a country club is racist, yet see nothing wrong with assuming motivations because of someone's religion.
