Bad tanking.... again

Quote:But they'd tank for a mediocre QB? When the opposite happens, I'll be glad to remind you of this one

Quote:LOL, thats stupid. to even suggest as a point. No team would tank for an O-Lineman. Then why did the Chiefs go 2-14 last year with all that talent on the roster? I mean, they obviously had to tank, right?
Quote:Then why did the Chiefs go 2-14 last year with all that talent on the roster? I mean, they obviously had to tank, right? I didn't realize that the Chiefs were previously an 11 or 12 win team the year before finishing 2-14. ![]() Using the Chiefs as an example is ridiculous. They were coming off of a 7-9 season before they finished 2-14. The Texans were 12-4 last season, and The Colts were 11-5 before their 2011 season, IIRC
Quote:That isn't accurate, in fact it's naive to suggest the opposite. It happens all the time in the NBA and the trend is starting to come the NFL now as well. There is no legal or financial risk involved because it would be impossible to prove one way or the other. Impossible to prove until one of the co-conspirators decides to talk. If bountygate can lead to coaches being banned from the NFL, what do you think intentionally losing games will lead to?
Quote:I didn't realize that the Chiefs were previously an 11 or 12 win team the year before finishing 2-14. And they were 10-6 the year before that. This explains it then: a good team only tanks (the coach and GM take hush money) when there is a prospective elite QB in the draft, but otherwise they just simply sucked one year for no good reason - even though they're loaded with talent. The Chiefs further falling to 2-14 that next season is just a progression (regression? ) of an already bad situation. Quote:When the opposite happens, I'll be glad to remind you of this one :thumbsup:Keep your fingers crossed. If you've watched him at all this year, the odds are pretty solid he won't be the next Peyton Manning as glitter boy fantasizes he will. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
Quote:Well, assuming the Schaub INT was just a legit fluke honest mistake, and given that otherwise he was the only bright spot in that game yesterday for the Texans, then one could argue that the Texans decision to stick with Keenum the rest of the way when its clear that Schaub gives them the best chance to win, well, thats some evidence that they are tanking - at least at this stage of the season...even if you want to believe that they might not have been before. Have you not been paying attention to Schaub this season? The man is an interception machine.
If something can corrupt you, you're corrupted already.

Quote:Have you not been paying attention to Schaub this season? The man is an interception machine. Not just an interception machine. A pick-six machine. I was talking to a Texans fan in the stands last night; the fans have given up on Schaub. They want him gone.
Quote:especially with the game on the line late in the 4th, but maybe that was the plan all along?????? It has been that way for years. Maybe McNair's plan all along was to trade for Schaub seven years ago because he heard about this 9th grader in Miami and think he could be the answer for the franchise. Quote:It's nice the team is showing heart, after the first half of the season. Seems like Bradley is a good coach and players have rallied around him. My only concern is the future of this team. No matter what, this team needs a franchise QB. We will never be successful without one. The same things will happen next year. These wins are nice. But I feel that we are going to have a similar season next year at this point. They won't hold for 16 games. The team wins, and this clown is very concerned...... With every win, this clown and clowns like him get angrier and angrier. And they think they're fans...... ![]() http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eT9aU8-ofdA

It seems that just about every thread seems to involve tanking these days...so let's get the tankers their own room so they can all tell each other how smart they are and how the rest of us are just wearing teal glasses to think that winning is important.

Maybe McNair's plan all along was to trade for Schaub seven years ago because he heard about this 9th grader in Miami and think he could be the answer for the franchise. After seeing what I saw today, Im starting to think tanking is not a bad thing! Our neighbor has a 4 year old son who he was throwing the ball with today! For a four year old, he had a gun. Quote:The team wins, and this clown is very concerned...... With every win, this clown and clowns like him get angrier and angrier. And they think they're fans......What I dont understand above everything else with the tankers, is this- We need to tank to get this certain player so we can stop this losing. Yet we begin winning without this certain player, yet its a problem?
Quote:Schaub's INT in the 4th Q was so bad that if you didn't at least suspect something shady going on, then you probably need a drool bucket underneath you. His INT in the 4th proved that he wanted Kubiak fired. He knew if they lost to the Jags twice that Kubiak would get canned. It worked. Quote:What I dont understand above everything else with the tankers, is this- Its because people don't think the winning can sustain (at least vs actual good teams) without the certain player. Time will tell. The Jags are winning now and its great....its even shifted my focus off of the Jags tanking for Bridgewater and wanting them to just go out and win as many as they can for the rest of the season....but whose to say that we all won't end up regretting how this all played out if next season comes, and we wind up again unable to beat the good teams on our schedule, as the result of not being able to secure that franchise QB again. (if it indeed plays out that way). If the Texans take Bridgewater and he becomes a top 5 QB, and leads them to yearly division crown battles with Indy & Andrew Luck, I think we might look back and regret that it didn't play out a little different. I'd say that right now, I am of the mindset/ hope that fortune smiles on a winning attitude and we'll get that QB regardless of the top pick or not, as examples like Roethisberger (9th pick) and Aaron Rodgers (25th pick) illustrate. Quote:What I dont understand above everything else with the tankers, is this-It's pretty simple, actually. Some think they are so genius that they truly believe that they can provide a better way of doing things. They are mostly self-glossed "experts" on players and think they hold the key to success. They forget that NFL executives and scouts do it for a living, and will always be better at it. They also forget something much more important. The most simple concept of the game. For every team that wins a game, one must lose a game. The only way to guarantee consistent losing is to cater to the fans who really don't have a clue as to how the business works.
What lies behind us, and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.
Quote:What I dont understand above everything else with the tankers, is this- You're applying logic, and that's the last thing a tanker would bother with. Endorsing a team quitting for a player embraces a loser mentality. That's the opposite of what this owner, GM, and coach are trying to instill in their players. Tankers want the team to lose so we get an unproven player who is just as likely to hurt this team as he is to help it. There's no sure thing at QB in this draft. They're simply subscribing to the hype regardless of whether it's warranted or not. It's funny because many of the tankers used the losing earlier in the season to indict the coach, GM, and the staff for not having a clue. Once the team started turning it around, they hated it because it neutered that argument. So, now they want to lose for a guy. All anyone asked for early on was to see improvement from the team as the season progressed. Now that it's happening it's a bad thing in their eyes. The bottom line is that the quickest way to lose a fan base is to quit. Especially when your talking about fans who are invested in this team. If you look at who the tankers are, most of them wouldn't know they were at EverBank if you put them on the 50 yard line. They're not invested. They watch the games from afar on ther couch and think they know better how to run this team as they put on shirts with their name tags and hair nets to head out to work. They've lived the underachiever lifestyle for so long they don't know any different. Personally, I am thrilled to see the team doing what we'd hoped they would, coming together and showing improvement. If they win out, I'd be thrilled. I don't care if we lose out on a hyped player. I trust the front office will find a way to address the issues, and the team will continue to get better. They'll find their QB, and they won't have to quit to do so. That makes it even better. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
