Roberto Aguayo missing FGs

I'd rather draft a kicker than a punter but still the 2nd round is a bit early.

I don't have a problem drafting one like a lot of people, but I always see the first 3 rounds as guys who should be pushing to start and be on the field more than a few plays a game. You and I view things the same way. If you are a draft pick from Rounds 1 - 3, you're expected to be a starter. And sooner rather than later. Rounds 4 and 5 are for head cases, injured dudes, and projects. You really don't have an advantage in drafting a guy to kick field goals over drafting a Guard. Take the starter, find the Specialist later.
I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.
Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say! Quote:so you was ok when Gene drafted a punter in the 3rd? Gene had a strong conviction he had a different ability and intangibles. "The way the ball came off that foot just sounded different" Punting is an important part of an NFL Team. A Punter's value increases when he's also a Kickoff Specialist. Yet, even with the two combined, his value is less than a Kicker who has great consistency on long and short FGs ( now PATs as well ). A G.M. who drafts a Punter in the spot that Gene Smith did is really putting his neck on the line. Not much margin of error to recovery from that type of mistake, especially when you end up passing on Russell Wilson and Blaine Gabbert ending up as a draft bust. His spot in the draft is going to make his career very hard on him. Wish him the best. ^ agree. Mike Nugent went through that same thing his first few seasons because of where/when he was drafted by the NYJ. Eventually, that has surpassed by him now. But, it took a while. Aguayo better hope he's good enough to have a fairly long career so people will eventually forget/get past the pressure on him by his draft ppsition. But, yeah. Drafting a kicker early in a draft is rarely (maybe never) a good idea. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Let's not forget...
They didn't JUST draft a kicker. They didn't JUST draft him high. They traded picks... to move UP. They used like 3 picks on the dude. Like they were trying to one-up Jean Smiff
Quote:Welp... ![]() Terrible again last night and so weird seeing him kicking the winning FG after all those he missed. How to waste draft kicks to move up for a kicker in the second... ![]() |
