Bad tanking.... again

The great thing about seeing a tanking thread every week after a win, is it means the team won.

I haven't read any of the other pages of this thread and I probably won't.  I was never apart of a "tanking" group.  I was on the bandwagon that if we were going to stink (when we were getting blown out) that I was fine with a 1-15 type season.  It wasn't that I was necessarily really wishing for a loss, I am happy and excited we're winning.  It's more that I was OK with a bad season and a high draft pick.  I had essentially written this season off in the rebuilding process.  This was a year to see some development and find pieces of the core moving forward.  This coming offseason is going to give us a real barometer for what Caldwell has planned and next season we will truly get a feeling of where Gus and crew are headed.

Gotta disagree with you there. The next time we lose the tankers will be at a fever pitch telling us how meaningless the win streak was.

I just can't see how anyone would want Teddy Bridgewater more than finishing 7-9 after starting 0-8....

I want the Jags to finish 7-9. I'm not advocating the -Jaguars- to tank anymore. I got off that train 2 weeks ago. The Jags getting a few wins cured me of that. That doesn't mean I can't acknowledge that The Colts tanked in 2011, and the Texans are tankING now.

You would.rather have a team capable of 7 wins throw a season? Do you know what would happen to the NFL if teams actually did.that?

asinine.

clots didn't tank, they had no QB that could get anything done on the roster without Manning.

tinhorns aren't tankING they have a plethora of problems and the team was exposed as the over acheivers they once were.

that's it. i'm done with it. I'm happy to tell you, you are the biggest loser.

The texans are tanking now huh? Thats why the owner was so pissed that he fired his head coach following the game.  That does not sound like tanking to me

didn't you read? Kubiak was in on the tanking. He tanked so good it cost him his job and likely leaves him unemployed for the 2014 season.

Schaub and Keenum, they throw INTs on purpose to tank for Teddy so that they too can be looking for jobs next season.

JJ Watt, he have ONLY has 9.5 sacks this season, cuz he's tanking for Teddy. If he wasn't tanking he'd surely have 15+

Rick Smith and McNair have gotten together and sold the idea to 53 players and a whole coaching staff. And all those people want to risk losing money in some fashion or another, to better the franchise they may or may not be working for next year....

duuuuuhhh

The coach was out the door anyway, just like Jim Caldwell in 2011.

2 back to back afc south titles and the coach was out the door anyway?  If true then the texans deserve to fail

Don't think I argued anything. Just explained to him what was clearly happening.

Public school systems teach so well these days.

I've argued that point on the side of the tanking - if you recall, the Colts played both weeks 15 AND 16 very well that year - which I am sure is of no coincidence that they had "built up" a 2 game cushion for the first pick at that point. In week 17, they all of a sudden played as flat as a pancake and gave the win to the Jaguars. The Colts clearly had no intention of winning that game week 17. None. I even read somewhere that they made every pass attempt on the same side of the field to make it easier for the Jaguars to defend them. (not sure if that was indeed accurate, as we're talking a 2 year old game....but found it interesting).

Irsay wasn't going to have the horrible stigma of finishing winless if he didn't have to. He won as many as he could while still finishing with the top pick.

makes total sense, but what about week 17, weren't they concerned with letting themselves get within a TD or winning the game?

a blocked punt or a pick 6 could've ruined their plan
