Blake Bortles is underrated.

Just like Fitzpatrick.  They basically had the same season last year.

Quote:Blake has already proven he can do it. What do you call 4,428 yards and 35 TD passes?

If you think Julius Thomas has done nothing as a Jaguar you must not know he wears #80.

I call that 5 wins. That's great he put up impressive stats and his arrow is certainly pointing up but in order to be the guy you need to put Ws on the board. He hasn't proved that yet.

Thomas put up 46 catches for 455 yards and 5 TDs. Yes he was injured but I would say if that impresses you from a marquee FA signing then you need to up your expectations. JT hasn't impressed while wearing a Jags uniform.

It is not called 5 wins. The whole team lot 11 games. And Julius Thomas is by the best tight end in Jacksonville.

Huh? There are no similarities.

They were statistically much closer to each other than Bortles and fitzpatrick.

About 200 yards difference, the same number of TDs, a few less INTs for hoyer.

Or was that a terrible attempt at sarcasm?

Brian Hoyer was benched. Then Ryan Mallet was benched. Later Hoyer got hurt as the starter. After returning to the lineup, he busted out of Houston.

Marcus Mariota was the unquestioned starter all season, only missing games because of injuries. Job security was never an issue.

That is the difference I am talking about.

Isn't it funny how even though they played in essentially the same number of games and had almost the same stats you're still insisting they didn't have almost the same season.

Perception is a funny thing. Bortles had a great year, but people around the country don't like the Jaguars so they want to perceive he wasn't so great. Hoyer had a season that was arguably better than "future superstar" mariota but he's remembered as having a horrible season because of the KC game in the playoffs. Reality is that hoyer and mariota were both bad QBs in 2015 but mariota had a few high profile games against historically bad defenses.

LOL Well Blake Bortles did take every snap last year. Nobody said he should get benched after a bad game.

It is ridiculous how everybody thinks Brian Hoyer sucks just because his last game was horrible. Peyton Manning had a worse QB rating against the Chiefs. I think Hoyer is a decent QB who had a very bad game. But his career in Houston was up an down, while Marcus Mariota is expected to go straight up.

A very weak trolling attempt.

Fitz had almost the same numbers of Carr, who is widely thought of as having a great second season. Not as great as Bortles, but great.. Saying fitz had almost the same numbers as Bortles is stretching it. It was, however, fitzpatrick's best season by a good stretch, in his 11th season.

Ryan Fitzpatrick just had to find the right team to succeed. Some players are like that. Fortunately for Blake Bortles, it was only his second season so he can only get better. That is something to be excited about.

Sorry pasted from Football reference looked good on my end.  Here we go manual

BB

355/606   4428 yds   35/18 TD/int   5.8/3.0  TD%/INT %   7.3 y/a  88.2 Rating

Fitz

335/562   3905 yds   31/15 td/int   5.5/2/7  TD%/INT%   6.9 y/a  88.0 Rating

Very similar BB just had more attempts which pushed his aggregates up a notch

Well  31.  but his Team did have 11 td's on the ground roughly league average, when JAX had only 5 rushing TD's, 2nd lowest total of the year, 1 off the lowest.   Their seasons are very similiar,  BB had more attempts so higher aggregate states, but the TD/INT rates and Passer Rating are almost identical.

None of that matters. Fitzpatrick did not come close to Bortles in passing yards. For that matter neither did some elite quarterbacks.

BB threw the ball much more, the Y/A are very similiar,  on the same number of attempts  it would be .4* 606 = 242 yds for the season difference / 16 games its a whopping 15 yards a game.   So if 15 yards per game is not coming close then OK,  They basically had the same season, BB had a slightly higher y/a and td%, but also a higher INT%, the ratings 88.2/88 are basically the same.

523 yards and 4 tds more is significant enough for me to not be the same kind of season, especially when you consider Fitz had a top running game and quality defense to work his passes off of and Bortles had to carry his team.

Go Jags!
*To stay up for atleast 2 years 3/6/17
2016 draft players I think will be good
  • On the Fournette train, will be best back of his class 3/6/17
  • Lattimore please,  Lockdowns on both sides would be nice
  • Engram at TE and the MJD clone Samaje Perine
