Would All Of This Have Been Possible...

#21

Quote:You were called ignorant because you prematurely stated CK won't last in the league long, it's a dumb statement considering you have no tangible proof to say such a thing, especially considering how productive the offense has been. Only 8 wins? There are a lot of teams that would like to have 8 wins right now, considering two of those losses were to the Broncos & Chiefs while Michael Vick was at the helm, I see nothing wrong with a 8-5 record considering they win games solely with their offense, their defense is the 30th ranked unit in football genius.
No matter your mancrush on CK, it is still my opinion that he won't last more than three years as a head coach. That opinion to you is "dumb". To me your premature anointment of him is "dumb". While you are considering the teams they lost to do the same for the teams they won against.

Quote:We shall see. That storm of an offense has only compiled eight wins so far. Sorry for my "ignorance" but I will wait for more than one season of this "storm" that has taken over the NFL to anoint CK the genius that you and all those other names you dropped up there do.

Only 8 wins?

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

I have a man crush because I'm stating facts? I could care less about Chip Kelly and the Philadelphia Eagles, but I also give credit where it's due. I didn't know the NFL was like college football where beating the opponents on your schedule plays a factor into your overall ranking, give me a break, I don't care who's on their schedule, at the end of the day they’re an 8-5 football team headed into the playoffs with one of the most dynamic offenses in football.

Hey look, a keyboard warrior with apparently zero input on the topic of discussion. Only personal attacks the tiny man would never make in the real world.

Obviously you meant to say you "could not" care less but you were sure quick to chime in on my opinion of him not lasting long as a head coach and labeling me as ignorant because you believe differently. Also you mentioned the teams that they lost against as if to somehow diminish those losses and now claim to not care about the schedule. Time will tell who is correct.

The better question is this: would we have won 4 games with Gabbert as the QB?

I'd argue that all of this IS possible because Mularkey was the head coach last year.

Quote:Agreed with the Del Rio portion, and agree with the defensive minded coach point, but to not want Chip Kelly here is kinda ridiculous. It sounds like the underdog complex of this forum rearing its ugly head again...

Didn't you say Kelly was scum and that he and that terrible organization in Philly deserve each other when he was hired??

That was just me ranting because I thought he was guilty about something that turned out to not be the case. Philly doesn't deserve him. We do, but we didn't try to get him.

And what does that have to do with the job he's doing now? Oh, nothing thats right. Red Herring.

I'm just trying to figure out why the lovefest when he was a scumbag not too long ago, and you don't know if we did or didn't try and get him. And what exactly did he turn out to not be guilty of?

The lovefest is because you are seeing how great of a head coach that he is. He has an ability to adapt to personnel unlike most other head coaches in this league and quickly identify/ apply specific strengths of players to mold scheme around them. He's 8-5 with less of a roster than they were going 4-12 with in recent seasons. No Maclin, and a game manager in Foles.

If the Jags made an effort to get him, we'd have heard something via todays age of social media.

Kelly was #2 on my Jags coach wish list (Bradley #6), I thought we had no chance to get him when he said he was staying at Oregon, then when they said he abruptly changed his mind and was going pro to the Eagles, I was angry and thought he was just doing that to "get outta dodge" so to speak before the hell was to pay. I thought if true that it was a scumbag move because I thought he was just waiting until the letters of intent by the recruits were already accepted before he bolted, but that turned out to not be the case.

Chip Kelly has Shady McCoy,  DeSean Jackson, Foles. Cooper, Boykin, Cox, etc.

We have a gutted roster and have risen from the 7th circle of hell.

Gus over Chip Kelly. And twice on Sundays.

Idk about that. Maybe if only because our players would have been more used to a second year system but I doubt Malark could have gotten what Gus has gotten out of this team.

What makes Kelly a great coach is his ability to truly make the most with what talent he has. He's flexible and smart enough to fit a system around the players he has at that particular time. Most coaches are NOT like this. Most coaches are rigid and can only do it the way of trying to find players that will fit into their rigid system.

Hasn't Gus done the same thing?

On Wisconsin.

Good question.

I don't know of too many coaches that would win 4 games with this degree of roster turnover with this roster.

Worst to 1st.  Curse Reversed!

Quote:There were some reports that the team quit on MM last year, so no, not possible.

I read those reports, too.

So in answer to the OP, in my opinion, no, Mularkey would not have been able to do this.

To answer the question, yes. (albeit to a lesser extent). Nowhere in this thread did I say that Gus hasn't done well with what he has.

But Kelly has got that team to 8 wins with not much top talent other than McCoy.
