Debate 9/26/16 - Trump vs Clinton

Hillary won when it didn't matter. Trump dominated her in the first 30 minutes. Fortunately, too, that the first 30 minutes were about issues that actually matter to the country: Economy, trade, taxes, and jobs. After that, Hillary did put him on the defensive about issues that he explained. She controlled the debate going forward. So yeah, Hillary got Trump rambling about the birther issue and his taxes, but those are such non-impacting points that they don't matter. Voters minds are made up on that, or they don't care.

Trump's greatest moments were in the first 30 (when all the normies are watching), and his weakest were in the last 60 (when normies tuned out for football, wrestling, sleep, or whatever). I say Hillary won this debate in a formal manner, but I don't think the polls change at all . Trump just had to look like he belonged on stage, and he accomplished that. Hillary said Trump was unfit temperamentally to even share the stage, but he looked pretty well collected. Just a bit ramble-y (which has always been Trump).

You see it completely different, right?

She has a very good point there. If Trump has nothing to hide, why doesn't he show the public what they want to see? The fact that all presidential candidates have been releasing tax returns for over 40 years (if not more) except Trump is a red flag that he is hiding something. There is nothing funny about a billionaire owner of multiple huge businesses refusing to publish tax returns and giving no reason not to do it.
Apparently this went way over your head. I'll dumb it down some for you. Hillary thinks Trump has something to hide but he will release the info after the audit. Now when Hillary has something to hide she will just delete it.

I think Trump opened strong the first 30 mins, then the questions lent themselves to putting Trump on the defense the final hour. Overall, after looking at it, I'd declare Hillary to overall winner, but I don't think it changed anybody on the fences minds. I hope Trump learned a few things from this that he can take into St. Louis.

I was a little surprised we got "primary" Trump. I figured he may be a little more reserved. We shall see.

Maybe... I thought the first 30 minutes were the best for trump... But I still think there were some good points Hillary made on the first 30 minutes as well...

I think you are right though... The numbers may not move all that much... But it might be a bump for her over the next week. Maybe a 4-6 percentage point bump by next week...

It was primary Trump, but it was good primary Trump (at least during the first 30). After that, meh not so much. The first 30 covered the issues most important American's care about, though.

Some people seem happy with the past 8 years and see no problem with a 4 year extension to it. Most people's minds are made up already. It's all ground game from here on out.

Yeah, is it possible Hillary pushed trumps buttons at the beginning which pushed him off his game?

Yeah I could see the polls doing their fluctuation dance (though I never trust polls to begin with). It depends on how long your average undecided voter tuned in for. Tuned in for only the first 30? Probably edge toward Trump. Tune in for the whole thing and care about personal scandals? Likely edge toward Hillary.

I thought he was on-point in the beginning, totally unrelated to her jabs, and he was going to push her over the edge, but to my surprise she didn't budge. I know Bernie and Obama has gotten her riled so it is possible, just has to do more studying and prep.

Quote:She said something to hide. Laughable

The email scandal. She admitted it was a mistake and accepted responsibility, but did not want to go into any details. That will infuriate many voters but Trump's tax returns are not dependent on email servers in New York. Trump knows not one of the "33,000 emails" that reportedly deleted will never reappear, so he was basically saying, "I will not release my tax returns." How can you hear that and not assume he hides something bad on his tax returns?

Quote:Is it me or is Hillary NOT talking over Trump. Just checking.

Trump talked over both Clinton and Holt. Every time someone else said something, he opened his big fat mouth. Sometimes I could not hear what anybody was saying nobody let another person finish talking.

Quote:Trump telling Lester he's wrong. Ohhh.

Lester should have told Donald he was wrong.

I wish Candy Crowley could do the next one.

Quote:I remember people saying Hillary would dominate Trump in the debate. Does anybody think that is happening? Honestly?

If by "dominating," you mean preparedness, professionalism, following debate rules, answering the questions that were asked, and letting other people talk at the right times, there only one answer: Clinton.

Trump had to debate Holt AND Hillary over his taxes and over Obama's birth certificate. Would have loved to see a question from Holt about Hillary's Libya/Benghazi, comments on blacks, her comments on Bill's rape victims, her comments on coal miners, the slush foundation, etc, but it never came up. Only Trump scandals. Trump is going to have to hammer those scandals on his own going forward, and again battle "fact-checking" moderators and Hillary.

That part made no sense. Why would anybody who flies to America think he or she is entering a third world country?

Because our airports are garbage-tier. Ever fly into Miami International? Absolute trash. I have flown into international airports across South and Central America that completely outclass it, and their GDP is a fraction of ours.

It's an exaggeration, but as someone who used to travel weekly for work, a lot of our airports are absolutely awful.

If you have been to that part of the world they have some very flashy modern facilities. Dig below the surface though and it is built on slave labour.

Having flown into JFK I can't say it felt 3rd world at all. Just feels the same as any other Western country.

This is why he says we look like a third-world nation, and were many topics he touched on:

So you want to spend more money on infrastructure projects? You big lefty

Quote:Yup, Clinton not stating facts.

I am sure the unbiased fact checker will find some inaccurate information both candidates stated. That is voters should go by, not just a candidate campaign's website that is obviously biased.

I was unaware we lived in an ancap society where big businesses own our infrastructure. Thanks for correcting my record. All hail anarchy.
