So if we lose on Sunday...
|
Quote:Gus Bradley is still safe in my opinion. I can't see the Jags making that knee jerk of a reaction after 4 games. Now if they are 1-9 I could see Dave having to make a decision. But don't be surprised if Gus survives and lasts the remainder of his contract. The past 2 years (2014 & 2015), the Losing Coach of the 1st game in London got fired. Talk about seeing the trend continue ..... that's almost scary .... We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
...well at least you were kind enough to remove the "chump" comment.
Have you seen my baseball?
Quote:You really think Gus will be here through the end of next year? Yes. Look at how long they've stuck with certain players and coaches.
If the Jags lose on Sunday, and they lose ugly, he's done for sure. If it's a good game, but they lose, he may still be done next week. If they win, he'll get the season, unless of course they go from 1-3 to 1-9, in which case, he'll be toast in a couple of months.
Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
Well, I for one hope he gets the season turned around. A 10-13 game winning streak would be nice.

^^ As much as it pains me, this. There is just nothing to gain for the season if the team leaves him in London (fires him). We'll relive the nightmares until the off-season.

Beer.
There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those who understand binary and those who don't.

If I don't have to hear him say [BLEEP] like -->>> "this is a good learning lesson for us ..... we're all going to come out of it better after this loss, and if that is the case, we're moving in the right direction ....." THEN IT'S WORTH GETTING RID OF HIM IF WE LOSE THIS WEEKEND. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Quote:I think with the talent here if we could get a W in London we could string some together. Chicago sucks, Oakland is meh right now, Titans are not much better than us, Chiefs have been up and down.. We could be 3-4 with a loss falling to any of the next 4 teams after Indy. The Jags have won 1 (ONE) road game in how many years? And, that was the "free, untimed play" game against the Ravens. That was a miracle that: 1. Kendrick Lewis dropped an easy INT that would've ended the game (terrible throw). 2. Joeckel got away with not being set on the last snap. 3. Dumerville was a complete bonehead by even touching Bortles when the game was gonna be over. Jags winning in the road (even in Chicago) does not look that good to me. We'll see. Quote:^^ As much as it pains me, this. There is just nothing to gain for the season if the team leaves him in London (fires him). If you make a serious effort to identify the interim replacement, that guy has 12 games to earn the job. Maybe he succeeds. Maybe he doesn't. There's an unknown there that offers at least the opportunity to find the right replacement. I can tell you this much. Marrone was hired as an insurance policy. I'm not a huge fan of the guy, but when I look at how things have progressed under Gus, and the trajectory of the team so far this year, the team really has nothing to lose except maybe the first overall pick in the 2017 draft. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

I just think it's poor business for the most part. So what happens if Marrone is successful and then he is hired as HC, installs his people and his schemes and we once again have a losing season? I would just rather start fresh in the offseason and not feel like we have to hire a particular individual because of loyalty or whatever else. ![]() We show less advertisements to registered users. Companies fire and hire all the time in the real world, and almost never miss a beat. If Marrone is successful with the current staff, then it fully exposes how much of an impediment Gus was, and I would venture to guess that Marrone would more than likely opt to retain as much of the staff that helped him land the job as possible. Some of his guys are already on the staff. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Jaguars - Major League Parallel "No, we've been losing. What I want us to do is finish dead last"
We have never had the number one overall pick. Franchise first for us is achievable. Just let Gus be gus.

Death of the Franchise - November 29, 2011 Fans deserve better. Thanks for all the good times too many are in the past. Quote:Yea but what about the players and their feelings?! Companies fire and hire all the time in the real world, and almost never miss a beat. This has got to be the third or fourth time I've seen someone compare an NFL team to a typical company. It would take too long to spell out why this is an illogical comparison. Seeing your posts throughout the years I can assume you really don't believe the comparisons are parallel? Would it really? Seems like logical fallacy. It couldn't also mean the team needed growth, new players needed to acclimate, or they players just flat out played like crap? While I do believe Marrone may try to keep as many current coaches as possible, what is to say any would actually support him? It's pretty typical to see coaches and assistants jump like flees during a coaching change, that is, unless they are bottom rung. ![]() Quote:Yea but what about the players and their feelings?! Good effort though. ![]() Quote:This has got to be the third or fourth time I've seen someone compare an NFL team to a typical company. It would take too long to spell out why this is an illogical comparison. Seeing your posts throughout the years I can assume you really don't believe the comparisons are parallel? At it's core, it's no different than any other business. You're hired to do a job. Succeed and you're rewarded. Fail and you're done. The NFL is a results driven business like any other. Bradley has been given an EXTRAORDINARY level of patience in trying to succeed as a head coach, and here we are in year 4 still talking about the team looking unprepared and not playing up to potential. I've been a defender of allowing things to play themselves out. I think we've come to the point where that's happened, and it's crystal clear he's not the answer, so the team really has no reason to delay this for much longer. If they lose in London, I would be surprised to see him preparing another game plan for this team. Would it really? You're the one who asked what would happen if "Marrone was successful". If he was indeed successful in turning things around as an interim head coach, and the current staff contributed to that success, I'm sure he'd try to retain the guys who best fit what he wants to do moving forward. There are always going to be changes, but so what? We've seen that here even when there hasn't been a head coaching change. That's the nature of the business in the NFL. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
