Sitting in the truck charging the phone don't think we're getting power back anytime soon saw about 4 transformers blow driving on 17. The gas station down the road lost its covering for the pumps it caved in on the pumps, and palatka is completely dark, except one sunoco where I could get some more smokes!

I'm sure we'll hear about some bad stories but overall, as I watch action news driving through jax beach, it doesnt look THAT bad. Definitely not the devastation you think of when you hear CAT4 and 8+ foot storm surges. definitely some flooding but most of the houses they showed looked in good shape without significant damage.
definitely lucked out this thing stayed 50 or so miles out to sea. ________________________________________________ Scouting well is all that matters. Draft philosophy is all fluff.

I believe it had dropped to a 3 before it got to us.

I wish I still smoked at times like this. Great time killer

― Albert Camus Quote:All good here at the beach. Lost power around 2, Genny on an purring after figuring out I didn't have it programmed correctly for autostart. Doh. Max gust we have seen maybe 60/70 mph? Started in on the crown royal. Looks like we got spared again. Gotta love that gulf stream . It really is amazing how the city of Jacksonville itself is able to repel hurricanes. You had 70 mph winds that just yesterday were supposed to have been 130 mph winds.

Reports out of Neptune that the waves didnt breach the dunes except at Atlantic Blvd. Can anyone confirm? That's my neighborhood.

action news jax just showing clips of flooding in st augustine. Water went farther into the city that I would have guessed. Has anyone walked through Flager college before? Under the dining hall you can walk down steps to the ground floor and there is this overhang you can walk under.... looks like that was totally flooded and water was pouring down in there. St George Street must have a ton of flooding if that part of Flagler is under water. Wouldnt be surprised if the ground floor of Casa Monica is flooded too.

Storm finally finished in ocala area. Sun was out for a bit earlier. Nothing compared to Jax and east coast tho

Quote:In the end, how high were those anticipated 8 foot surges? I'm predicting a surge in babies born in 9 months. I don't know if it will be a big surge or a small surge, but I do predict a surge.

I think I'm most nervous about tonight. The rain has stopped but there are some big gusts rolling through. Flooded grounds with high winds seems to be Prine conditions for some trees falling tonight.
