Power been out since 4pm, and I have taken approximately 4 showers since then.

Quote:Reports out of Neptune that the waves didnt breach the dunes except at Atlantic Blvd. Can anyone confirm? That's my neighborhood.

That's the only spot that I know of.  The intercoastal flooded up to Florida Blvd; I'm not sure how much past that point it got.  I should get an update from a friend who's still there early tomorrow morning.  All of Beaches Energy was out an hour ago.

When you get into the endzone, act like you've been there before.

We're getting the outer bands here in central North Carolina. Conditions to deteriorate overnight. Tropical storm conditions expected and around here with the ground saturated we don't need the wind & rain. Power outages possible. Trees down are possible.

I'm ready. I have ample supplies of water. Food, snacks, and entertainment. If we lose power I am good to go. I just hope I can have my morning coffee without incident.

Guys, I know this sounds really stupid, but I'll say it anyway: lots of wasps were displaced during this storm when their nests blew away or their tree went down. Yes, I'm being serious here. For the next couple of weeks, there will be large clusters of them trying to find a place to crash. They will be large groups, they will be unhappy at the world, and they will sting the crap out of anyone that just happens to close a door ten feet away from their little resting place. Just ask my wife.

All kinds of nature has been displaced by this storm, and especially if you lost trees or had flooding nearby, expect to see insects, snakes and other assorted critters you're not used to seeing in large numbers. Assume that they're crankier than Archie Bunker at an Obama rally.

See the above about critters being displaced and pissed off.

It may help to have your old Leftwich jersey nearby to help wrap up a smaller animal to put him back in his habitat.

I'm out of the country for two more days.  If anyone around the Southside or Baymeadows area could give me a ballpark summation of how bad the wind got around there, I'd appreciate it.

Worried about a couple of trees on my property.

I hope everyone is safe and had minimal or no damage.

Well, he's not even close to us yet and we're getting hammered by light rain and about 10mph winds sustained. Conditions will deteriorate as the day goes on. We'll have about 24 hours of this according to NOAA.

Oh, and I live in (south) central NC, not even the coast.

Quote:I'm sure we'll hear about some bad stories but overall, as I watch action news driving through jax beach, it doesnt look THAT bad. Definitely not the devastation you think of when you hear CAT4 and 8+ foot storm surges. definitely some flooding but most of the houses they showed looked in good shape without significant damage.

definitely lucked out this thing stayed 50 or so miles out to sea.

I know there was some guy on the news who said he had a piece of the pier floating in his pool on 8th street!

We were lucky.  Never lost power and it seems the only damage that I have is part of a privacy fence down.  I made a temporary repair so that my dogs can go outside without the leash.
