This is from Allen's last preseason game against the Falcons. Yes, I know it's preseason, but look at his poise.

While I'm not ready to throw in the towel on Bortles, (I wanna see what he can do with some real coaching), I am all in on making Brandon Allen the backup. Henne is just a waste of a roster spot. Seattle has an UDFA rookie QB backing up Russell Wilson and they don't seem concerned. Brandon has upside and I think we should show enough confidence in him to cut Henne loose.
Quote:Right now Brandon Allen is the 3rd best qb on the roster. The kid is being given the proverbial redshirt year to learn as much as possible to compete with Henne for the back up position next year. Give this kid time to develop and he might just turn in to a player. As anyone who watched the 4th preseason game can attest, he is nowhere near able to contribute right now. The fact that the FO was willing to use a roster spot on him speaks to the staffs belief in his potential. That's some pretty blind homerism. I'm impressed. Quote:He is always at the beach bars Quote:Supposedly his neighbors in Jax Beach say he rides a little scooter around at night and has parties all the time. Sounds like bar hopping to me.So he is supposed to be a hermit and hibernate in his room? "A man with no sauce is lost.

Quote:So he is supposed to be a hermit and hibernate in his room? It certainly wouldn't hurt him to spend a little extra time after practice working on his mechanics. Or throwing extra passes with his WR's. Or studying the playbook to get his reads down pack so he wouldn't throw all those interceptions. I don't think he's in a position to be partying every chance he gets yet....but that's just my opinion.

Quote:Blake is the starter until next season unless he has a complete meltdown This is most likely true...however, if BB keeps playing like he has and we are say, 3-10...you might as well give the kid some playing time.
Party's over after this season. Bradley, Caldwell and Bortles will be out. We reset once again. Khan will probably get suckered into trading actual draft picks for Josh McDaniels and Jimmy Garapolo in the off season. We'll still suck for another four years. But it won't be 14 - 40 or whatever the hell Bradley's record is kind of level of suck.

Quote:Is that "blank" supposed to be a cuss word? No, literal meaning. There was nothing but a blank white space in the OP. Quote:When it was not so long ago we thought we were set for a starting QB. This organization does more to crush hopes and dreams than the Browns. I have a lot of family in the Cleveland area, and while the Jags are struggling the term: "Factory of Sadness" is not quite strong enough for the Cleveland Browns franchise over the god-awful years.

Can we leave the personal insults behind for a while and get back to some semblance of topic, gents? Please, and thank you. We show less advertisements to registered users. I think the biggest advantage to having Allen over Bortles is that Allen can make the regular normal QB throws that Blake seems to be completely unable to make at this time. He may not have Blake's "wow" factor for big plays, but if defenses are going to take those away anyway, then we might as well try and move the ball methodically and see if that gets the offense going. I don't think the time to bench Blake is here just yet. But I'd be lying if I said I'm not curious to see what the other weapons on this offense will look like under Allen. Let's keep in mind that since this was never a QB competition, Allen never really got to work with the kind of weapons that Blake has had the benefit of playing with during camp and preseason.

You guys ready for a Bortles/Brissett QB competition next training camp? lol Quote:I have a lot of family in the Cleveland area, and while the Jags are struggling the term: "Factory of Sadness" is not quite strong enough for the Cleveland Browns franchise over the god-awful years.I bet head to head right now, Cleveland beats us. Just thought I'd mention that I saw a guy wearing a Beuerlein jersey on the way in yesterday.

I'm really afraid of what current staff would do to Allen.
If bbint stinks it up thursday, I'd put henne in for the 2nd half. and let him sit and think about his life. First quarter of chiefs game? henne for 2nd and third quarters and allen in fourth. Its time to get ready for the future.
Because Jaguars is our mantra
