5th straight year picking in the top 5

Quote:If the draft was today, Jacksonville would have the #4 pick behind Cleveland, San Francisco, and Chicago. Me either. Hopefully we can finally move up to 1 and get the best player in the draft or a good trade. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Quote:If the draft was today, Jacksonville would have the #4 pick behind Cleveland, San Francisco, and Chicago. All one needs to do is look at the NFL standings from last season through week # 8 to see how much the top of the draft order can change. The team that had the # 1 pick through this point in time ended up with the 16th pick. Quote:If the draft was today, Jacksonville would have the #4 pick behind Cleveland, San Francisco, and Chicago.why? the season is over. "A man with no sauce is lost.

One reason why I disagree that it's a lock is what happens if another team with a losing record at this time loses it's starting QB for the season in the next week or two? Many things can, and do change in the NFL, especially with more than 2 months of football left to be played.

Nothing else matters in regard to the statement, "The season is over." It is not over until January 2 for 20 teams and varying dates for the other 12. Quote:D6 is exactly right. They were left for dead after game # 11 when they were 4-7. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Quote: jagherd, one classic example of this was the 1996 Jaguars. They were left for dead after game # 11 when they were 4-7. Yes, that's a terrific example. I also remember some years when the Chargers started out awful, but then would go on a 2 month tear to contend, and actually make the playoffs. It also goes the other way. Dallas would start out hot. But then, they would start caving in late November and December. Remember the big knock on Romo was his futility in December?
Quote:Yes, that's a terrific example. The best example of the latter situation is last year's Falcons. Because they collapsed after their fifth game, at least a few people in the media wondered if their win at Denver (game 5) proved they are legitimate. Quote:If the draft was today, Jacksonville would have the #4 pick behind Cleveland, San Francisco, and Chicago. You really hope we don't win more games?
Quote:You really hope we don't win more games? You can't read. I said I hope we don't stay at #4, which obviously means I do want the Jaguars to win more games. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
But it is not today and 9 games to go. Some people like to head over to the modis before the season can play out.

You could say that about very important players at almost any position. The Jets are a little different. Bryce Petty is starting. Is that a tank job?
I just hope we have the common sense to trade down and accumulate more picks. Spending a high draft pick on one guy who doesn't pan out is killing this team. Let's accumulate picks and start to build the O-Line, including trying to get some quality backups in the later rounds. We have poor starters at most of the O-Line spots and zero depth behind them.

Do you remember who we spent the #5 overall pick on this year and how well he panned out? Or the obvious fact that if we had good coaches, our two #3 overall picks would be much better? |
