5th straight year picking in the top 5

#1

Does anyone know what the record is for a team picking top 5 consecutive years? Will we set a record? Too lazy to look lol

It's only 5? Feels like more.

I'm pretty sure we set the record last year.

2012: #5, Justin Blackmon*

2013: #2, Luke Joeckel

2014: #3, Blake Bortles

2015: #3, Dante Fowler

2016: #5, Jalen Ramsey

*We originally had the #7 pick and leapfrogged the WR needy Rams.

This is only four years of drafting in the top 5. The first one was not "earned" like the last three.

There is no reason to assume we will clinch another top 5 pick only halfway through the season.
you dont have Ramsey on there

I think it would set a record but I'm not 100 % sure.

The Bills came close,  picking 4 straight years in the top 5  ( 1969 through 1972 ) and had pick # 7 in 1973.

Did the Bills "earn" a top five pick all four years or trade up at least once?

With the Bears looking competent now, the Jags might be penciled in at #3 before too long.  I think CLE & SF are locked in at #1 & #2.  We either claim #3 due to free fall, or make a miraculous turnaround with Hackett.  We'll see what happens.

Wait until the Bears put up a winning streak. Like the Jaguars, they still have only two wins.

Even the Browns many not be a lock for #1. They should have won three games (Ravens, Dolphins, and Jets) with third string QBs. They have shown the ability to play themselves out of that pick.

Being that the best record the Bills had in the 4 year period prior to each draft was 4-10 with 26 teams back then,  I believe they didn't trade up into the top 5 for any of the 4 selections.

We've also picked in the top ten every year since '08. Although, we traded up from 28th in '08 and 16th in '11

I feel the Rams drafted in the top 5 for like 7 years straight

EDIT: They did 08-2010 so only 3 but it was 2nd, 2nd, then 1st overall in that order

It will be the 6th year in a row the Jags have drafted in the top 5 if the season continues the way it has. That's beyond bad

Daves plan - stockpile the talent as long as you can by keeping Gus as long as you can.

Also, in 2010 we were literally a coin flip away from picking outside the top 10.

If the draft was today, Jacksonville would have the #4 pick behind Cleveland, San Francisco, and Chicago.

I really hope this does not hold up.
