Blake Bortles: 2016 is "the worst nightmare possible."
|
Quote:In other words, Bortles will be better next year. He will only be hamstrung four more weeks. The author of that article meant that BORTLES is the thing that has "hamstrung" this team. He did not mean that Bortles was the one being hamstrung. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:You don't know Bortles will still be terrible next year. He might not be. I think I'll use the last 3 years of leading the league in turnovers and pick 6's as my reasoning for considering him likely to continue that trend, rather than putting blind hope in whimsical notions like we did with Blaine Gabbert in his last year here (with a new staff). Time to learn from our past imo. Bortles wasn't worth the 3rd overall pick any way you slice it.
Quote:What an indictment on Caldwell that is. You'd think these guys could identify who is and isn't a natural thrower before drafting them that high. Throwing the way quarterbacks do is not a natural motion for anybody.
Butch Harmon says it best. This applies to any mechanical change.
http://www.golfdigest.com/story/harmonrules Quote:You can't fix a mechanical flaw in one off-season and apply it in a pressure situation. It is impossible. First you need to be able to do it throwing the ball in your back yard, then in practice, then in a game, then in a pressure scenario in a game. If you aren't monitored 100% of the time, you will slip back into old habits without even knowing it. And who are you to say fixing it is impossible? We show less advertisements to registered users. Quote:And who are you to say fixing it is impossible? Nothing is impossible. He hasn't even started the process of changing it. He has one more year before we decide if we will pick up his 5th year option. There is not enough time for him to fix his issues before the Jags have to make a huge financial decision. He is a lost cause. They need to find their new QB next year. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but its true. The guy chose to be a lazy sack of crap this past off-season and rest on his and the media's laurels. He is getting what he deserves. You can't just pay a guy because he is young and looks like Big Ben.
Quote:And who are you to say fixing it is impossible? You got him. Stroud contradicted himself in that post. If Bortles was not working on his throwing motion, obviously fixing it is possible. Just start working on it!

He hasn't started working on it. That is all you need to know about BB5. If YOU disagree with me, I know my thought pattern is correct. We show less advertisements to registered users. Quote:The past is the past. A new coaching staff will give us real hope, not blind hope. Though I agree that the past is the past, data analysis is built upon projecting the future based on patterns found in the past. It is not a stretch to say that because Bortles has been careless with the football for the past three years that will not change by a large margin moving forward. In fact, most people try to point to Farve's carelessness as an excuse to make it seem "okay" that Bortles is careless. The difference is that Farve is a risk taker with exceptional accuracy and Bortles is a risk taker with exceptional inaccuracy. Quote:And who are you to say fixing it is impossible? It's his opinion is all, and one that I share. For every QB that's been able to repair a bad throwing motion, there seems to be a lot more that couldn't do it. I've seen QBs with bad throwing motions play well, even Bortles has, but I can't remember the last time someone went from throwing like Leftwich to throwing like Marino. Especially not in one offseason. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Were you stalking Bortles last off season? Lack of progress does not prove lack of effort.

Quote:You know this, how? Were you stalking Bortles last off season? I'll say it caught my attention in the offseason when he said he wasn't going to spend as much time with Tom House as he had the previous offseason. Especially because it was his mechanics that were the focus going into 2016 for Blake. Now that doesn't prove anything about any kind of lack of effort, because we don't know what he was doing all offseason. I do think it would've helped for him to spend some more time with Tom in California than he did. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

Quote:Nothing is impossible. Nothing is impossible. He is a lost cause in the time frame he has to improve and the time frame he wants to become a top paid QB. It ain't happening. Quote:Nothing is impossible. It's not impossible that I could win the powerball this weekend. But if I'm counting on it, it's most probably best to consider it a lost cause. Bortles is much more likely a lost cause than he is a franchise qb. Though I sure wish it wasn't so on both counts. |
