Caldwell isn't going anywhere
|
No source just my opinion on what's been said in the media about Khan not wanting to cut ties with Gus.
I really think Dave has wanted to move on from Gus for awhile now but had his hands tied with Khan. If Dave has another draft like last year then we could continue to move forward. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:and RB I'd prefer we build an offensive line and undergo a true change to the power running scheme before we waste another pick on a RB. Running the ball is about mentality, and we don't have the staff or personnel to run the ball. I think Ivory and Yeldon could be pretty good together in a better scheme and with an actual FB/OL. My needs : SS (Doubt Cyp is retained.) OL (just bring in guys with the right mindset. More maulers! Linder and maybe Beachum and Cann are keepable.) QB (Bortles needs actual competition, bye Chad.) DL (most likely, we will end up taking a pass rusher or DL in the 1st. Can't have enough pass rushers. Really depends on the scheme we end up going to... 43 or 34.) #2 CB, if Prince isn't retained. I'm hoping he is. Other minor needs: TE, FB, NT, LB.

Quote:Unless I'm forgetting someone, I don't remember a qb ever coming back from a season as bad as Bortles this season and having success. This was his third season, and he struggled to even make the most routine NFL throws. Decision making is just as bad now as it was in his rookie season. And now, he has loser body language. I think it is just too much to expect, and I have been a Jaguars fan too long to expect that type of miracle. Bortles is unfixable now, in my opinion. He is who he is: turnover machine that struggles with accuracy and making the routine throws. That's fair enough.. I respect your opinion.. I just don't necessarily agree with it.. ![]() 80% of what I talk about is nonesense.. the other 25% is made up statistics... Quote:While I don't believe the quote in the blurb in any way guarantees that Caldwell is safe -- I do believe in his ability to right the ship.I would hope it does. If Khan isn't sure of Dave, then he needs to let him go now. Letting him hire a coach for next season, and then firing him next season is the same way we ended up with Gene/Mularkey
Dave hired AND extended Gus, in addition to hand selecting the QB.
So, excuse me while I remain skeptical with him in charge.

Quote:Dave hired AND extended Gus, in addition to hand selecting the QB. Every GM/Owner will give a HC an extension for one year if they plan on keeping him in his final year of his contract incase thry break out so he doesnt leave/get paid way more. Rams just gsve Fisher an extension this year and fired him a few weeks later.
Every move has it's excuse.
Interesting that the successful teams aren't the ones having to make them.

I think he's put a lot of talent in place, that has been misused to the 9th degree, and not developed to the 9th degree as well.
You can blame him for a lot, such as not firing Gus at the end of last year (perfect time, if you ask me) but he's put a lot of pieces in place. More needed, sure. Has everything worked out, of course not. It is difficult to say that Gus stank as a coach, failed to develop guys, and failed to put them in the best place to develop while at the same time say that Dave hasn't put the talent there.
Caldwell needs to go. I hope the media doesn't let him talk his way out of this dumpster fire he's built as a team.

You dont let a coach go into his final year of his contract without a one year extension in case.

Just happrns to be one of our more talented teams since the early to mid 2000s. But yes, just a full blown dumpster fire.
You hand picked Gus. You hand pick Joeckel and the rest of the 2013 losers. You pick Bortles at #3. Your entire 2015 draft class also sucks.
4 years into your rebuild, your offensive line is no better. I remain very skeptical that Dave Caldwell has any clue as to what he is doing.

It was one of the worst drafts ever. The offensive line is definitely better. The pass pro is SOOOO much better than it was the last couple years. We show less advertisements to registered users. Quote:Ramsey, Telvin, Malik, Big Roy, Sen, Jack, Amukamara, Ngakoue, Beachum, Lee, ARob, Hurns, Linder, etc. Not nearly enough. Besides, you must be overrating most of those guys on list. He's had 4 years of picking very high, and 4 years of unlimited cap space. He is just as much responsible for us being 14-48 as anyone else.

We have lost multiple games this year to [BLEEP] coaching and them allowing Blakes mechanics to translate back to his college day level mechanics. Not his fault a QB that he picked threw for 35 tds and 18 int last year and the coaching staff allowed him to flop this bad. Last years Bortles with this defense is a 8 win team.

HE picked the QB who makes uncle rico's throwing motion look professional. HE picked the coach. it was HIS decision to build the team this way. Nobody cares about Bortles' 35 touchdowns last year. Fools gold. Caldwell missed on his coach and his QB, as well as on a bunch of free agents. He has missed on many draft picks as well. I am not saying he gets an F for building the team, but I think he gets a C-. If he wants to roll with Bortles for another year, we are doomed.
