Caldwell isn't going anywhere

Quote:Dave Caldwell agreed and will now be charged with exploring all options to hire the best head coach possible to lead what I feel is an extremely talented team and reward a very loyal and patient fan base in Jacksonville.

From the quote, Khan is giving the keys to the future back to Caldwell and he believes that talent is not an issue.

I don't know if I trust Caldwell to bring the franchise back. Hired Bradley, 2013 and 2015 draft classes, and Blake Bortles. Not exactly a great resume.

Next year will be another 2-14 season.

Duh. Caldwell is the an responsible for bringing in nearly all of that talent we have now and shedding most of the weaklings from his predecessor. Tyson Alualu is the only Gene Smith pick remaining. Players who did not pan out were cut this year if they weren't already gone or put on injured reserve. Coaches are responsible for depth chart and playing time mistakes, poor game preparation, etc. GM gets players; HC uses them. I always stayed out of "Fire Caldwell!" threads just because everybody would get mad at me for using strong language to express my opinion that Caldwell needs and deserves to stay in Jacksonville.

The sooner they realize Caldwell is part of the problem, the sooner we get out of the depths of hell.

How could you forget there were more than one gem in 2014? After Bortles we picked Lee and Robinson. When the draft was over, we got Hurns off  the street.

Not going to complain or freak out about that decision. We'll see what the future holds and revisit this decision in a couple of years.

I hear the GM of the team about to win the Super Bowl would just love to replace him.

You can't just wipe the slate clean, again, after 4 years. Khan n co are also new in this. Caldwell is viable. Now do more Hail Marys and Our Fathers to help you along the way. One can argue that ultimately providence intervenes. You can only hope your guy truly translates to your guy.

barring we draft the next Brady, or Allen is the 2nd coming of Brady.. I feel like we will struggle without a top tier QB or a good run game. We have neither now, but its a long way to week 1 of the 2017 season.

I have no problem with Caldwell not getting fired. I think he's earned more time.

There was no chance he would be gone.

We certainly have a lot of talent in all three areas because of Caldwell.

I doubt it. I bet this exact same team with at least a competent head coach wins 6 games.

Personally, I think our QB situation won't be too much of an issue next year. I think better coaching will resolve a lot of that.

I am pretty sure Dave is going to be the first GM to make 5 straight top 5 selections. That's all time bad GM work fellas.

And I agree with him.   Talent is not the issue.   Not only do we have more talent right now than we've had in a decade, we have more salary cap room than almost anyone.
