Mike McCoy a candidate for Jags OC positions per Michael Silver

Quote:IF he actually has a choice in the matter and it isn't TC telling him what to do.
Who cares either way? I'm sure Marrone knew how things would be run when he accepted the position. TC is going to want things in best way possible. Doesn't mean TC is going to force a guy on Marrone's staff that doesn't have chemistry with Marrone.

Martineau(?) Had a good point on twitter, basically saying you'd think Hackett would have already been named OC by this point considering the defensive coordinator has already been named. Perhaps they are searching for other options

Per Albert Breer, Marrone had Mike McCoy,Todd Downing (raiders QB coach who was recently promoted to OC/they did this to block other teams from hiring him) and Nathaniel Hackett on his list for OC, checkout this link

I wonder would he consider Bill Musgrave for the job as well. I like the way he hasn't automatically given the job to Hackett. Now just remains to be seen who wants to come here.

Please not Bill Musgrave. We had him in Jacksonville before, it didn't end well.

Like Kevin Gilbride?

That Oakland offense was clicking on all cylinders this year, but from the sounds of it, a lot of that had to do with the work their former QB coach (current OC) put in with Derek Carr.

Rather have Hackett than Musgrave.

Yeah he deserved to go that time. He's been pretty class since , developed Matt Ryan and made the Raiders offense one of the best in the league.

Quote:Why

His only success at O coordinator was the past year. And the raiders thought so little of him they let him go after only one year. Hackett is still young and I think he has room for growth as a coordinator. And he has a rapport with Bortles. I still believe in blake and think his best chance to turn things around is to have some familiarity with his coaching so that he can focus solely on working in his mechanics.

Honestly, IDC if it's a big name or not. Just get a guy in here that adjusts his scheme to fit players strengths and I'm good with it.

TBH, McCoy isn't a great fit for what Blake's strengths are. He is more about a QB that sits in the pocket and goes downfield a lot. Blake needs to get out of the pocket and on the run more. I guess we'll see, but this sure makes me feel good that we aren't just doing the status quo and we are actually looking into options even if Hackett and Wash are likely the coordinators. We are looking at our options.
Mike McCoy completely changed his offense to fit Tim Tebow and they lead the NFL in rushing and made the playoffs, he wont force Blake to be a pocket passer.

The next year Payton Manning had came in and had one of his best years, the year before Tebow Kyle Orton had a career year under McCoy

He's a good coordinator and based on the names indicated, it seems Marrone had some quality options in mind. McCoy seems like the top option with Hackett being the fall back option to be OC or QB coach

The guy who just quit on the Vikings mid-season?

Quote: I doubt the Jags would be interested in a guy who's going to force a square peg down a round hole.

It's hard to say. By retaining Wash they're saying that they're ok with doing this on defense.

pretty much no one really knows why he was let go so theres no point in faulting him for it.

McCoy is a very impressive offensive mind and it's no wonder Marrone and company want him.

There might be a reason why Hackett hasn't been named OC yet....

He wasn't "let go" ... he up and quit on the team.

Some might say that about Marrone.
