Press conference thread

The vibe I got is caldwell is kinda on the outside of the coughlin/marrone relationship. I can imagine after a win Marrone high fiving Coughlin and Dave just sitting there with his hand up. Hope it doesnt effect the chemistry of the team.

I normally don't like to take a lot out of a press conference, but that was amazing. Tom Coughlin is already leaving a mark. I feel like I could run 20 miles right now!
The comment about discipline and not beating ourselves is the perfect comment. Also loved the "Blake is the quarterback" statement. They said it in a way like "of course he is the quarterback" and expect him to come back improved.
Shock the world

I'm told Tom Coughlin has blocked Doug Marrone from hiring Donnie Henderson 2 @Jaguars coaching staff. TC/DH had big blowup at '05 scrimmage

Interesting.... Quote:They like Caldwell, they dont want to give him up because he would be snatched up quick. If the team gets turned around quickly, Coughlin wont be here that long and Dave will get full control again. Agreed, I think Tom knows he's the top guy, but also to act as a mentor for both Dave and Doug. He knows this isn't long term and I'm sure is smart enough to leave with a plan as well. The press conference got me pumped.
I feel like the girl who keeps going back to her abusive boyfriend.
Caldwell:
We have a really good process in place. 99.9% of the time the process will make the decision for us. Quote: Back then, Donnie Henderson was the Jets DC under Herman Edwards.
Why do people think Coughlin won't be around long? Do you think he'd take a head coaching job elsewhere, or are you saying he's close to retirement?

Oh snap Quote:Caldwell: Do you think it's one of those coins that has heads on both sides?
Quote: Quote:I'm told Tom Coughlin has blocked Doug Marrone from hiring Donnie Henderson 2 @Jaguars coaching staff. TC/DH had big blowup at '05 scrimmage per Alex Marvez It's hard for me to believe the the 2nd sentence is a cause and the first is the effect.
Im actually pretty pumped about Marrone. He seems like a no nonsense type of coach. I feel much better about him now that Coughlin was the one that endorsed him. I think most fans didnt want Marrone because of Gus, but now that the dust has been settled, it actually looks like a good hire.

Marrone:
I have one rule for players. "Be a pro." ...it's not about the Doug Marrone way of doing things. It's about putting players in a position to succeed.
TC probably has his selfie on both sides of that coin.
Have you seen my baseball?
I always liked Marrone. But, I was disappointed at first when we didn't hire Mike Smith. But, the Coughlin hire makes the picture much clearer. The culture will be different, that's for sure.
And, I think TC's reputation around town may buy Marrone a little more patience from the fan base than if that safety net wasn't there.
Watching this press conference reminded me of my first Thanksgiving not seated at the Kids table.
Only a chump boos the home team!

Quote:Dave probably feels so left out.Dave has 1 of 32 positions like his in the entire WORLD. There's no way he feels left out. There are more experienced and successful men in the building with him. It's a natural placement. He will get better at what he does because of this. Ojt at its finest. DC has a very bright future |
