Did you really think Coughlin was going to go out there today and say that Marrone wasn't a good option as a coach?  He's working with him now, of course he's going to endorse him.
I'm so hyped man, we are gonna win the Superbowl next year, Super Bowl Bound!!!

Glad people's attitudes have changed after this press conference. The meltdown was epic.

I loved the press conference. Good to see that Tom ain't messing around and the culture is going to change dramatically because of it. Caldwell can now concentrate on what he knows best and that's finding the best possible talent for the Jaguars.

Let's not forget Coughlin endorsed Gene Smith.  (Sometimes I wonder if he did that as revenge though.. "Fire me will you?  Oh yeah, Keep Gene Smith on.  Make him your GM someday.  *evil laugh*"

This fanbase gets really excited about everything in the offseason.  Tom Coughlin Press Conference?!  WOO!  Go Tom!  It's like our Super Bowl.  Every offseason people are optimistic.  I'm still really cautious about Doug Marrone.  Let's see who he brings on as coordinators, and then later... let's see how he does in the first game as non-interim HC.  He's had two games so far.  One was impressive, the other wasn't.  Let's see what he can do in an offseason, with a draft, and some free agency signings.

Dave Caldwell and Shad Khan have been the KINGS of offseason.  Let's hope adding Coughlin and Marrone make them the kings of the regular season.  But I think we need to see more than a press conference to really believe this team is heading in the right direction.  If Marrone can fix Bortles (or hires someone who can), then I think he'll be just fine.  If he can't, he's got a lot of work making this team competitive.  Of course I'd probably take Blake Bortles over EJ Manuel and Thaddeus Lewis.  So if he can win 6 games with them in his first season, he should be able to win 8 with Bortles.  At least here's hoping.  (I'd say our Defense is probably better than the Bills Defense was when he took over there too.  Then again their RB was much better than ours.  Our leading rusher this year only had 465 yards.  Yeah.  Bortles had 359.)

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

I'm renewing my tickets like I do every year, but I'm not getting my hopes too high.  I used to go into every year super pumped up about how good we'd be and the new direction, but now I know to be cautious.

Coughlin is inspiring, but in the NFL a lot of things have to fall in place.

You're not wrong for feeling that way. Someone said in another thread, being a fan of the Jags is like being in a bad relationship. "It will be fine, we'll be fine and it will get better". It's ok to be aprehensive, however, we all know Tom. We know how he operates and he's proven to be a winner. It's hard not to get excited about the future with him being the leader of this rag tag of a team. I'm notalgiac and excited to see him back, but more than anything, it's knowing someone is on our side that knows what the hell he's doing. Understands what it takes to win and has every right to say yes or no if he feels like the moves made are not putting us on the right path. We'll be ok, I think.

I feel like I may actually have a chance to watch the Jags play in a Super Bowl before I kick the bucket.  That makes me happy.

Have you seen my baseball?

Gene Smith was not appointed to an executive position until six years after Coughlin left Jacksonville.

Giving a college scout a vote of confidence on your way out is one thing -- it isn't like he was saying "make him your GM and stick with him two years too long."

The confidence is Bortles is scary considering how bad he was but screw it. Give him the year on his contract to prove it and lets go. Time to win.

That sure didn't come off as confidence IMO.

Coughlin's experience and no nonsense comments combined with Marrone's similar approach certainly feels like a very welcome change in culture for the Jags, huh?

Hard not to have a little optimism after that presser.
Marrone at the time represented the old guard ( Gus Bradley). Its a tough sell but Coughlin really has energized many of us as 1. He endorsed it and 2. He represents a change the organization needs. He instantly makes the Marrone hire look like much better decision than what it originally looked like.

You can just see Coughlin's face turn red and facial expressions when Bortles makes bonehead decisions and inaccurate passes

Yup. If we bring in some legit competition this offseason I think we'll really start to get a feel on how they think of Bortles.

Someone made a good comment regarding this subject.

First Doug SAT the starter down for poor play in Buffalo and won 9 games that season with... Orton at QB?

Second.

There's no way TC isn't gonna have e a better back up plan at QB than hennee.

No damn way.

I expect Chad to be let go

Another more capable vet brought in as back up and maybe one rookie QB drafted
