What will our offense look like?

Quote:I believe it has a somewhat traditional base but receivers are given multiple route tree options. This allows for QB's to be very improvisational depending on the coverage the QB sees. So the X and Z will come out of each play with a few route options, the QB motions and moves players around. This is why the Jags may have had serious interest in Chip Kelly since Kelly's offense had similar set ups on passing plays. Kelly emphasizes fast-paced offense in similar ways to the Coryell scheme. Much Like the Coryell, Kelly's offense relied on stretching out the defense and allowing Foles to make less accurate throws, disguising his weaknesses as a thrower. These are some big reasons why DeSean Jackson, Jeremy Maclin and Brent Celek did really well in his offense before Kelly got rid of all the Eagles talent. You'll see the fast pace, motions and utilizing players more as athletes than traditional position players. (I.E. RB's run, WR's catch, TE's Block). The offense focuses on the vertical spread, incorporates a lot of timing and includes more of a straight forward power running game.Is this accurate? Because if it is...I had no idea how complicated and difficult an offense can be. And honestly this concept doesn't make me happy. I see Blake being unsuccessful in this offense. I also see Lee and hurns as the only receivers we have that will perform well... Wait I take that back...Maybe a Rob will do well too if Blake keeps lobing up 50-50 balls to him. Anyone else notice that a lot of Blake's completions to a Rob look like mini hail Mary's? Now I'm not so excited with our offense nor Blake Bortles being our QB. Can't we simplify this thing? I mean Blake's obviously not the sharpest tool in the shed... Can we really expect him to be able to process defense recognition and audible into plays that fit the defense? Makes me worry man..... Sheesh I agree that Blake does better when Improvising but I don't believe he would even consider and pre determined receivers route tree lmao. Yeah right lol. Here's what happens. Defense breaks through or comes in blocked at Blake he escapes the pocket and looks around for someone to throw to. Their is no way he's going to think of what receiver a has as route options lmao hes not capable of anything close to that. We show less advertisements to registered users. However, the Jaguars don't have Marshall Faulk, which is truly what made that offense unstoppable in my opinion. Martz could beat you with the deep ball all day but those delayed draws with Faulks creativity made defenses unable to focus on taking out one or two players. Sure Holt and Bruce were phenomenal players but Faulk kept safeties from being able to commit. One of the greatest games I've ever watched was the 2001 NFC Championship game. Philadelphia at St. Louis. Jim Johnson had a great gameplan and he was able execute his exotic blitz and coverage schemes because of players like brian Dawkins, Hugh Douglas and Jeremiah Trotter. Dawkins was such an amazing safety and he was everywhere in that game. The Eagles had a great defensive game-plan and Dawkins seemed to be in the Rams head all night but at the same time, the Eagles couldn't hold the Rams attack off long enough. The Rams offense took advantage of Dawkins versatility in a way since the Eagles relied on him too much in that game. It was as if they were moving the ball Dawkins way on purpose, knowing he'd find a way to be around it, and then strike away from him on big plays. Great offensive team vs a great defensive team with great coaching minds at the helm in Martz and the late Jim Johnson. McNabb couldn't keep up with Pinkston and Thrash as his options and threw a pick with less than two minutes to go.
Coryell or Martz ..... Heck, if our offense runs with either of those sorts of uptempo type offenses, I'm in.
Where does it say they will run that offense ?
In 2013 the Bills were a heavy run team under Marrone and Hackett and ran for 144 yards a game. Albeit mainly because they had Ej Manuel, Thad Lewis and Jeff Tuel as their QB group
Certainly not this guy:

I think a good coaching staff should be able to tailor it's offense around each skill positions strengths to avoid their weaknesses from being exposed. A lot of times teams fail because of unflinching coaching philosophy and the unwillingness to adapt it's play calling to it's personnel.
I think a strong running game revolving around power is fine. Some of that is pretty basic. But as far as how they think they can create the passing game around Blake will have to be seen later on. Just depends on what happens in a few months with free agency kicking off and the draft just around the corner. ![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? However...I wanna see a college RB making something from nothing before I get totally on board. Because our o line Will probably commonly give him nothing. Can't find highlight's on dalvin getting yards outta nothing Quote:I'm kind of with u on cook. Dalvin is all about making something outta nothing. His quickness and vision is what made me say he would flourish in the first place. Bigjohn could probably reference specific games.

Quote:I'm kind of with u on cook. That's Dalvin's game. That's mostly what he does. He's a jitter bug that can stop and start on a dime with plenty of acceleration. He can get to full speed in about 3 or 4 strides. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
I get so tired of people boo wooing about Bortles throwing motion but nobody cried the year before when he was throwing TD's. Look another bad year. We all focused on D but we needed to get some O too and may focus on that this year. Need Full-Back, Better TE's and better line. I still don't know why we got Beachum. He couldn't protect Ben in Pit. I thought Parnell was gonna be good but still not there yet even for his size. Joke is still a Joke. Thomas really over paid and need to cut that slack dude loose. But just maybe this year will be different.

I think you are going to see more balance and certainly a much more "managed" offense. We may see the gunslinger reeled in for more high percentage plays. Of course, we could see the backup QB if this O-line don't get fixed.

Quote:You read my mind. I think Cook fits the Jags very well schematically Which brings me back to the ole "what were they thinking" when Caldwell draft TY Yeldon (4.50 40 time) to be our feature speed back when he only clocked in 0.02 seconds faster than Derek Henry who subsequently clocked in at 4.52 For an organization attempting to upgrade team speed they sure did miss on our feature RBs, Yeldon and Gerhart |
