Because Fournette is special and those guys are worth the risk.

They were. Their YPC went from an already top 5 in the NFL 4.6 to a whopping 4.8. Sticking with McFadden and drafting Ramsey would have been far better for them.

Zeke made that team what it was last year. Dak playing smart helped, but the offense flowed through Zeke.

There were other talented running backs in that class too. Jordan Howard had 1300 yds behind a less talented bears line and didnt start the first two games. Just because it worked out for them doesnt mean there werent better alternatives.

Fournette is really good. His measurements are way better than Adrian Peterson and there is room to improve. I think he is better than Elliot and Gurley coming out of college. If we go RB I would prefer Fournette over Cook. We would need the OL for Forunette. With no OL I would pick Cook.

I really disagree that fournette is a one trick pony.


Chris Johnson isn't even apples to apples. Johnson's game was predicated on speed. He was faster than everyone. Speed is one thing that goes away rather quickly as you age and when that's the only thing you have separating you from the others, your career is going to be shortened.


Let's not forget Chris Johnson did score around 70 TDS in his time playing even though he's been a ghost for the last 2-3 years.


Anyway fournette is all around very talented. I don't see him having any problems in the NFL. He's a freak show.

Fournette from what I have seen. Needs some space. If shut down at the point of attack or line or back field. Will he be effective?


 

What RB is effective if shut down at the point of attack? I think it's absurd to hold that against a RB when all RB's are ineffective in that situation, besides Barry Sanders.

Go watch the cut-up of Fournette against Alabama.  You'll understand the knock on him.

I'm a fan of the player - but there are many, many examples (besides just Barry Sanders)  of guys with much better elusiveness behind the L.O.S. than Fournette.  

 

Few (possibly none) possess Fournette's very rare combination of speed and power however. 

 

Fournette needs a clean initial lane to launch.  It's a knock on him, but one that a team with a good O-Line will not be concerned with.
