Quote:Fred ran a 4.3 easily

If you keep comparing to Fred Taylor you're never going to draft anyone. Most backs aren't Fred Taylor. That doesn't make them unable to be elite.

The biggest problem with Fournette at 4 is that he's only a 2 down back. He is not good at catching the ball out the backfield and in todays NFL, you need to be able to catch and pass protect to be a complete back.

Cook is more of a complete back than Fournette.

MJD ran a 4.3 at 5'7" 210lbs which if he was 6', he'd be 250lbs running a 4.3

All those toss plays say otherwise. You're reaching so hard your shoulders must be sore.

The Fournette hate is laughable.

One, if not both removed from the sockets.

Quote:Cook's time is a lot more damning than Fournette's

it's not damning.  it's a decent time.  not great but it's not like he ran a 4.7.  we will see what comes out officially.  a 4.50 flat is pretty decent.

Fournette's time is very good at 240 lbs.

sometimes we all think they need to be running 4.3's which is just rare.

Fournette is actually pretty good at catching and blocking. Wasn't asked to do it much but he is plenty capable.

People are reaching bad to bag on him.  I get the people that say there are better options at 4 due to the RB depth in this draft, makes 100% sense.  But reading some of these other comments, you'd think he's a day 3 prospect.

Quote:He ran a 4.42 at 230
Fred ran a 4.42 in Indianapolis and a 4.38 on grass on his pro-day.

This was at 230 lbs.

Fred was the man

So now toss plays are the same as being a pass catcher on 3rd down? Got it. Who's reaching now?

I don't hate Fournette but I believe there are a lot of good backs in this draft and the DLine position will get thinned out very quick. A very good back will be there in round 2 and 3 but you can't say the same about pass rushers or Dline players.

For the Jags to select a RB at 4, I believe he should be a complete back with exceptional 3rd down qualities like Elliot. I don't think Fournette is that. Simple as that.

I just think we can get a good rb in round 2/3 and pick the best defensive player with the 1st.

No Fun

Elliott ran a 4.47 at 225. A guy at 240 running a 4.5 is damn good.

It's impressive. And that's a well built 240. Not a sloppy 240 either. Guys his size maybe clock a 4.7 if they're lucky.

I didn't mean to say they were "bad"

What I meant was people complaining a 4.5 is slow for both, but as you said it's a great time for Fournette's size. For Cook being the back who's supposed to be faster, running the same 40 time as a guy 30 pounds heavier than you looks a lot worse for Cook.

Both are still great backs.

I'll bump this post when he is in the pro bowl. Yes. Let's take another pass rusher that will take a good few years to develop over a running back who will change the entire scheme of your offense immediately. Who not only helps your young QB after an alarming set back and opens up the passing game by giving him one on one situations. Who says he's not a great pass catcher on 3rd down? You think teams would even be considering him in the top 5 if he didn't acquire that skill in some compacity? Come on.

Quote:To run a faster time, jump a higher vert, and reinforce the perception of his elite athleticism?

When a guy can't be bothered to try to make the best impression possible that's worrisome.

Because if he is comfortable playing at 240 and runs a sub 4.5 why would you mess with that?

Yep, confirms that he's got homerun speed, which is what we saw on tape.
