Fred ran a 4.3 easily

If you keep comparing to Fred Taylor you're never going to draft anyone. Most backs aren't Fred Taylor. That doesn't make them unable to be elite.

MJD ran a 4.3 at 5'7" 210lbs which if he was 6', he'd be 250lbs running a 4.3

it's not damning.  it's a decent time.  not great but it's not like he ran a 4.7.  we will see what comes out officially.  a 4.50 flat is pretty decent.  

Fournette's time is very good at 240 lbs.

Fournette is actually pretty good at catching and blocking. Wasn't asked to do it much but he is plenty capable.

Fred ran a 4.42 in Indianapolis and a 4.38 on grass on his pro-day.

 

This was at 230 lbs.

I don't hate Fournette but I believe there are a lot of good backs in this draft and the DLine position will get thinned out very quick. A very good back will be there in round 2 and 3 but you can't say the same about pass rushers or Dline players. 

 

For the Jags to select a RB at 4, I believe he should be a complete back with exceptional 3rd down qualities like Elliot. I don't think Fournette is that. Simple as that.

It's impressive. And that's a well built 240. Not a sloppy 240 either. Guys his size maybe clock a 4.7 if they're lucky.

What I meant was people complaining a 4.5 is slow for both, but as you said it's a great time for Fournette's size. For Cook being the back who's supposed to be faster, running the same 40 time as a guy 30 pounds heavier than you looks a lot worse for Cook.


Both are still great backs.

I'll bump this post when he is in the pro bowl. Yes. Let's take another pass rusher that will take a good few years to develop over a running back who will change the entire scheme of your offense immediately. Who not only helps your young QB after an alarming set back and opens up the passing game by giving him one on one situations. Who says he's not a great pass catcher on 3rd down? You think teams would even be considering him in the top 5 if he didn't acquire that skill in some compacity? Come on.
