***Official 2017 NFL Combine Thread***

Quote:2 words... Lesean Mccoy

go look up his combine, it was considered AWFUL.. yet he is the most explosive RB in the NFL, both in short area quickness and burst, and in long speed

Shady was actually sick at the Combine that year. He did much better at his pro day workout.

Quote:The problem is that having a special RB isn't important any more. Blount, Freeman, Coleman, Sea RB, Murray, Starks.... all those RBs aren't anything special but they're playing in the playoffs. There's more to that list but you get the point.

AP is special but have they won anything with him? You need versatile RBs who can pass block. But most of all, you need an elite QB.

JJ Watt is special talent at a "premium position", yet the Texans haven't won a damn thing with him either. Never understood the "yeah rbs are good, but do they win superbowls?" argument. You could say that about any position except quarterback.

Quote:Forrest Lamp threw up 34 reps on the bench press. Would absolutely love if he ended up on the Jags but it's looking very unlikely he will be there in the 2nd round.

A big boy with the name Forrest Lamp was meant to play for Jacksonville.

Whew that's a lot of reps. I'd freak if the Jaguars managed to get Lamp in round two.

I would love that, but with how thin the crop of O-lineman are this year, I highly doubt he'll be there.  Him and Cam both probably go in the teens, maybe early 20s.

Quote:Yeah, I think he will be the best prospect to come out since Luck

After watching the Colts disgrace their uniforms with a "Suck for Luck" tanking when he was due to come out, I hope we won't have to witness another such display of unprofessionalism. with some team tanking for Darnold this year.

So Fournette's drills proved virtually exactly what we've been saying? Offensive linemanesque high jump proves the need for the runway to build momentum (also maybe that his hurt ankle is weak). but if he gets the blocking he can be a nightmare on the second and third levels. No way he's worth the #4 pick in this draft.

...impressive 4.49 for McCaffrey.

Does he fall out of the top 15?

The combine is always full of nice anecdotes. Here's one regarding D'onta Foreman's lack of participation today in drills.

Apparently even after combine doctors found a stress fracture in his foot, D'onta Foreman still wanted to go out and participate...even offered to sign a waiver so he could do so.

You're asking the wrong guy. Fournette wouldn't have been in my top 15 to begin with, but no he definitely isn't now either.

Mixon would have been so impressive today by comparison...

Quote:Nah, only tall athletic white guys run 4.3's because they cover a lot of ground with each stride. Ex. Former Razorback and Jaguars, Matt Jones.

No need for the race card here. Tall athletic black guys have also run 4.3s due to a long stride.

Maybe in the skill position drills, but I don't see Mixon as a guy that would have blown up the combine.  He's more of that super-polished runner with great vision rather than a physical freak.

Quote:Hard to see him slipping out of the top 10.

I wouldn't change my mind based on what *some* folks believe on a message board.  Pretty sure GMs and scouts won't either.

It's not at all hard to see him slipping after that vert.

He's not a Christine Michael or Jerick McKinnon superfreak I don't think, but he would have looked like the most impressive RB in this class physically IMO. We shall see in his pro day.

Quote:LOL at the people talking about not drafting fournette because of his high jump score but these same people say that the 40 doesn't matter for a DL. Why would high jump matter for LF? The one time a season he might need to hurdle a defender?

Dude ran under a 4.5 40 at 240lbs. That is pretty impressive.

When your drafting early you want to be sure of the guy your getting. That is, you want no doubt. A beyond pathetic vert like that creates doubt. He'll get drafted round one, but I just feel like a few teams near the top just crossed him off their short list
.

Look at it this way...

If the combine results don't matter one bit... why do them?

How do you know this?

4.42 on turf at the combine. 4.38 on grass at pro day.
