***Official 2017 NFL Combine Thread***

Because we play in a league with other teams, the majority of which also have more than enough funds and might also be interested in acquiring good players to help their team win instead of letting one team get all of them.

I still don't see why they couldnt sign those 3 and why those 3 wouldn't want to come here. I know it isn't gonna happen cause I don't think they will aggressively pursue the 3 of them. But it is possible.

We go through this like every season where you guys list the top guy at every position we need and every year all those guys disperse throughout the league and we get maybe one of the guys we wanted.

Were not the only team with money, and just because we have enough money doesnt mean were going to grossly overpay just to outbid other teams, thats not how free agency works.

Quote:Its highly unlikely but of if the first 3 teams dont like the QBs and the draft falls like this.

1.Browns - Garrett

2 49ers - Thomas

3.Bears - Adams

4.Jags - ?

Allen ...unless he really is medically red flagged in which case I'm taking Hooker.

I disagree. An elite-level play making S can have an even greater impact than any pass rusher not named JJ Watt or Von Miller.

Quote:True, but i feel we will have a much improved pass rush this year with Fowler, Yannick, and Day going in their 2nd full seasons. If we can add an all pro safety to the mix would be lovely and I feel the 2nd best player in the draft

That's just it. If we fail to add a pass rusher, we still have guys who can fill the spot without leaving any gaps to be exploited. But if we fail to add at least a quality starting SS, we leave a major hole for every offense to exploit.

It's like y'all forget the part where I said it wasn't gonna happen. Just that's it's technically feasible.

Well sure its technically feasible. We COULD trade a 7th for Aaron tomorrow but its not going to happen so why even bother theorizing.

Quote:I think Solomon was clearly the better, more explosive player even before this combine.

For someone that is big on measurables - how far down do you drop Allen after his combine?

I'm not passing up Adams for him, but if he fell to number four and Adams is gone, I'd have to consider him based on his tape alone.

How bad can they be. I need to take a closer look at his numbers...

Jonathan Allen, Alabama - 6' 2 5/8", 286 lbs, 5.00 40, 30' vert, 9' 0" broad, 7.49 3-cone, 4.50 20-yd, 21 reps

The numbers almost defy logic considering how dominant he is on tape. I think at this point you have to give Solomon Thomas the edge over Jonathan Allen because the numbers are truly that drastically different. Solomon compares to elite guys where Allen almost appears to have tanked or choked. That said, I'm still keeping Allen ahead of Taco who posted merely expected numbers.

I don't care what we do. As long as we get him.

I wouldn't go THAT far. But he is a special talent indeed.

I see the same will to succeed, hard-nosed running and overall ability to dominate. McCaffrey is going to carry whatever offense he goes to.

which is why they don't get paid as much.

I see a slower/less explosive Reggie Bush. In terms of play style and body type.

4.56 40 time for Adams first run. Not bad, figured he'd get a time in the 4.5s

Keep an eye on Josh Jones the strong safety from N.C state. He hits like a freight train over the middle and is very athletic. He plays strong safety but played deep at times when needed. Could be had in the 3rd 4th.

Ran a 4.4 today.

He'd be an instant upgrade over Cyp IMO
