Next FA Acquisition?

Quote:At this point after a huge upgrade on defense and no good OL at 4, I wouldn't mind if coughlin picked Watson. Based on Fournette's potential I would like to draft him but RBs are usually the first ones out of the league. We could add to the DL but we seem to be set there. Watson and come push Bortles. If Bortles doesn't perform Watson will be the QB. It's kinda like insurance. The worst thing that could happen is Blake fails and we end up like the Texans with a good D but no QB or worse. If you go all in on Bortles, Fourntte has to be the pick. But I wouldn't be surprised if Coughlin gets his QB at 4, they want to win now. Bortles could always be traded.
There's no way this team could go into the season with Bortles and a #4 overall QB on the roster.

If they waste the #4 pick on a QB, they better trade Bortles, because both of them cannot be on this roster.

It'd do nothing but cause problems. We'd be stuck playing QB roulette all season long.

Any time Bortles would make a mistake, everybody would want the #4 overall pick to play. Soon as the #4 overall pick started making mistakes (which wouldn't take long), everybody will want Bortles back in. Rinse, wash and repeat all season.

QB at #4 would be the worst possible pick.

How do you figure taking a QB at #4 would be the worst possible pick? If Coughlin and Marrone believe that Bortles is done then there's really no point in riding out another less than sub par year under his arm. If they feel one of these QB's IS an upgrade than they'll trade him away to some team for a low end pick like we did with Gabbert.

All of these free agency signings so far don't add up to a team that has rebuild or average expectations in mind. This is still a weak division. And if we had a QB that was capable of not spotting opponents 7+ points every other week thanks to turnovers this team was probably already looking at 8 wins in 2016.

Don't be surprised if it happens on draft night. It's pretty frustrating that Bortles continues to make rookie mistakes with the football while guys like Wentz (as a rookie with less college starts), Prescott, Carr, Mariota & Winston clearly show more competence in the decision making and big play ability department than he does.

A top 10 defense and stout running game doesn't mean [BAD WORD REMOVED] if your QB can barely complete 58% of his passes. He's just not efficient at all.

I completely agree. If Coughlin doesn't think Blake can lead us to the playoffs, QB has to be in play at 4. We have the defense to win now. We have The Allen Bros at WR. Even Caldwell said it, they are looking to upgrade positions. QB could very well be one. Blake can't just fix his mechanics in one offseason. This is something that has to be natural and from there you can tweak  couple things to fix it. Blakes mechanics are so bad that it would take years of muscle memory to get good mechanics. If Watson is the real deal you take him and trade Bortles.

Some of you guys are making me laugh saying a QB at 4 would be the worst possible pick.

Really?

We got a guy that throws wobblers in the dirt and you think picking a QB would be worse?

Prescott and Mariota have been in much different situations than Bortles has. They're managing games at this point.

Winston throws plenty of INTs himself. He's ask to do everything for that Offense, just like Bortles is.

Every team passed on Carr.

I liked Wentz coming out last year and would have taken him in the top 5. Obviously with the way things went in 2015, QB didn't look like it could have been a need.

I don't see any QBs this year really being worth a top 10 pick, let alone #4. Obviously QBs will get pushed up because of the need, but Bortles is better than any of the QB options in this draft.

Taking a RB at #4 would be better than a QB this year, and I don't even want a RB at #4.

I just don't see any of the QBs in this draft, being a better option this year.
