Trade scenario: Saints move up to 4 and Jags get 11 and 32. Is that fair? Would the Saints even offer that? Are they looking to move up?

According to the trade value charts(understanding it's a guide not a mandate) the Jaguars pick is worth 1800.

 

The Saints picks 11 (1250) and 32 (590) are worth 1840.  If these two teams adhered strictly to these trade values, the Jaguars would get the better of this trade at face value.  To balance it out perfectly (or closer to it) the Jaguars would have to throw in at least a 5th round pick (32.2).

I'd take the Jets high value picks this year.


 

At #6 I'd be STOKED if Jonathan Allen falls there and we still get him. The contenders at the spot don't change too much. Fournette, for that matter, should still be there and more sense than taking him as early as #4.


 

With the extra 2nd round pick we can go all sorts of directions. We might get someone who falls out of round one with the early pick like Njoku, Mahomes, McCaffrey, Day or Robinson, and then at #39 I'm hoping we can still get my targeted starting LG Dion Dawkins.

My wife likes to watch House Hunters on HGTV.   So I have to watch that all the time.   So I will do like they do, and start by eliminating one of these 3 choices.  

 

First, I eliminate the trade with the Bills.   I don't want next year's pick, I want something this year.  

 

So that leaves the Jets and the Browns.   I agree with Jags02 that at #6, we are still likely to get either Allen or Fournette.   I also think a CB would be worth taking there. 

 

So I would do the trade with the Jets.  

 

Of course, I would want to wait until we are on the clock and know who the first 3 picks are.  If they wanted to do this in advance of the draft, I would have to think about that.

I'd take the Jets trade. Draft Fournette at 6.


Using the extra 2nd rounder (and our 3rd rounder) trade back into the first and draft Lamp.


Using the other 2nd rounder, take the BAP. Hopefully a tackle would fall to us in that scenario.

I've actually been thinking about these questions... Yeah I'd take Cam first, but ideally to play OT ... I'd love to be able to get Dawkins as well to play LG, but it's too hard to pass on a guy like Cam, plus we can always play Cam at LG this year with plans to possibly move him to RT next year.

In a draft where experts are saying a typical top 50 player in other drafts will be found well past pick 100 and where the QBs have been so widely panned, I think it will be a much harder task to find scenarios where teams are willing to give up quality draft capital to move up.
