Best running back draft 2017
|
Quote:D'Onta Foreman ran a consensus 4.45/40 at 234 lbs. during his Pro day today. From the reports I read, he was also very impressive in all of the drills he was put through. He had a 10' broad jump and a 33" vertical. Scouts reported he had obviously been working on his pass protection, as he looked much better in drills and in a critical aspect of his game, he caught everything that was thrown to him in the passing drills. Watch him start rising up the boards. He should have never dropped. Very speedy and agile for a man of his size.
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

Quote:I like him a lot. Didn't he play closer to 250? I watched a cut up of him and seems like he pass blocks well. I don't think he has the IT factor that Fournette does but he's good. Yes, he did. He wanted to get a little faster and quicker and he lost the weight. The thing is, he was outrunning guys at 250 lbs. Now, he's even faster. Quote:For sure, Heck Jimmy had 116 receptions in a year once. He keeps the defense honest and guessing. If you get too predictable the diminishing returns seem to kick in and it gets tougher to get the yards.By modern comparisons, a balanced offense would be considered grind it out. Even in the modern day Coughlin likes to pass a lot . I wouldn't consider his offense a smashmouth one. Hopefully Doug and co go the balanced route.
Quote:He should have never dropped. Very speedy and agile for a man of his size. Don't be surprised if he's taken ahead of Cook. Between Cook's pedestrian workout numbers and huge question marks about his off the field activities and the unsavory crowd he is apparently continuing to hang out with, I'm starting to see him drop like a stone. Someone will take the shot on cook before he drops too far. I would be happy with mixon, foreman, or cook with our second rounder.

I don't like the fact that Mixon seems so unapologetic about his actions. That's a HUGE red flag to me. The fact that Cook is continuing to hang out with unsavory characters is just as alarming. The last thing we need is to add that kind of element to our locker room. We don't need him getting other players on our team involved in his off the field foolishness. Quote:What don't you like about him?Few things, he goes down easily for a guy his size, he has very little nuance or wiggle to his game and he fumbles a ton. I mean I get the allure, hes big and very fast in a straight line. But if you watch the games he's pretty much just running through wide open holes against the worst rushing defenses in the country. They're all close in talent to me and he's a cleaner prospect.

Quote:Someone will take the shot on cook before he drops too far. I would be happy with mixon, foreman, or cook with our second rounder. So would you fix the O-Line in the 1st round? I have a huge problem with adding drafting a franchise RB before we fix the O-Line. That's why I desperately wanted an OG in free agency. As you know, I would just about kill to get D'Onta Foreman on this team, but I don't think any RB can succeed on this team given our current state of the O-Line. I know it's a pipe dream, but my dream draft is to somehow come away with either Lamp or Feeney, Foreman and Moton without giving up a 2018 pick. It's not gonna happen though. Quote:Few things, he goes down easily for a guy his size, he has very little nuance or wiggle to his game and he fumbles a ton.I'm glad I am not the only one who saw that. When I see Foreman going downhill and there's some DB in his way, I assume that he's going to bulldoze them, but in so much of what im watching, he goes down. He's Fournette sized but that IT factor isn't there.
Calling Deshawn Watson a future bust since 3/19/17. If I eat crow, I will keep this in here and proclaim JackCity a genius.

Quote:Few things, he goes down easily for a guy his size, he has very little nuance or wiggle to his game and he fumbles a ton. He does not go down easily. I have no idea where you are getting this. I've seen hours of his footage and actual games and that is the furthest thing from the truth. You can pick and choose any clip where he might loose his balance on a play or two, but that happens to every RB at one point or another. He does need to protect the ball better, but that can be easily corrected with coaching. Why are you punishing him for running through open lanes? Is it his fault he faced bad competition? He dominated them. Isn't that what he's supposed to do?
Quote:With the character concerns included, I honestly prefer foreman of the 3 of them. Agreed. Mixon might be the best all around talent, but he's off my board, because of the assault. Even without the off the field stuff though, I have Foreman far ahead of Cook. Foreman is multi-talented and from what I can see, a good kid. Quote:So would you fix the O-Line in the 1st round? If we could trade down and somehow get oj Howard and lamp in round 1, I'd then take foreman Rd 2. If we stay at 4, I'd probably take allen, Adams, or Thomas. Then I'd still take foreman Rd 2 And probably Dawkins for the OL in Rd 3 or best available.

He dominated them. Isn't that what he's supposed to do? Me too man, he gets ankle tackled easily for a guy his size. Looks like a power back but plays far more of a finesse style. Sure the fumbles might get fixed, or they might get worse at a higher level. He's not being punished for running through opens gaps. Just bears mentioning that he rarely if ever faced a good defense and it shows on the field. He doesn't have much wiggle, he doesn't have much moves, he doesn't break tackles like you would like him to. Very good home run hitter though, that's at least one area where he excels. Quote:I'm glad I am not the only one who saw that. Sure the fumbles might get fixed, or they might get worse at a higher level. How is he supposed to show "wiggle" when he has open running lanes? You don't need to show many moves when you just need to run through open holes. It doesn't mean he doesn't possess those moves. It just means he doesn't need to use them. The same goes for his pass catching. They never threw him the ball in college, but it doesn't mean he can't catch. I believe he's gonna be the best NFL RB in this class. I can't wait to see this guy in the NFL. |
