I once, okay more than once, received a lesson in lip reading when a woman attempted to cut into a long line of cars by trying to nose in between me and the car ahead. Feeling generous, I was more than happy to oblige if she would at least give me a turn signal. That's all I wanted, just a courteous turn signal as a polite gesture of request. Nope, she just sat there expecting me to allow her in. As she gunned her car away I could see her mouth forming naughty naughty words.

I went into Golf Galaxy fully prepared to spend up to $1000 on a set of new irons.  I was there for 20 minutes and couldn't get anybody to help me.  And it wasn't like they were crowded.  Their loss, I'll waste my money elsewhere.  There are other Golf Galaxies and PGA Superstores around me.

People putting their stimulus checks in the stock market on stupid speculative meme stocks like gme or amc. They will lose almost all of it if they leave it in those. If that is what our govt is giving this money out to ppl that dont need it, Heaven help us.

Jmo stimulus isnt meant for gambling.

Wow, that's bad. It's hard to imagine considering you can't get 10 feet in the door of a PGA Superstore without getting approached by an employee.

Right?!?  They would've been all over me like leeches if I was there just to browse.

And I didn't have forever, I had just run over on my lunch break.

I have encountered that exact same behavior in several different golf stores, including the PGA Tour Superstore and Edwin Watts Golf.  Often, I have seen the staff putting or using the simulator and not offering to help customers.  It's extremely aggravating.

Still have the dead guy clubs?

PGA superstore is a good bet if you’re ready to just buy the clubs.
Grab me a set of the mizuno 921 hot metal pro irons while you’re there, please.

Yeah, still playing with the dead guy irons.  I haven't bought new clubs in 20ish years.  Figured I'd get the new irons before I go to AZ in April with Mike.  You should join us in Myrtle or AZ sometime.

Speaking of golf. I'm 6ft3 and I've only used hand me down clubs from my dad and uncle. Been using them since I was 13.

My dad is about 6ft tall. I'm playing much more now than I used to. How much does club length change depending on your height? Should I got buy some new ones? I don't want to roll into Golf Galaxy saying "I think I need new clubs because I'm tall" because of course they'll try to sell me some even if they don't think I need to.

Your height puts you outside the standard lie. Probably need longer clubs and definitely a different lie angle.

Those clubs might have even been a little too short for your dad, especially if he bought them off the rack and didn't have them fitted.  I would think at 6 foot 3, you should get fitted.  I've seen tall guys like you playing golf, and sometimes they have to bend over so far to address the ball with an iron that it looks really awkward.

Try Golftec.  They'll give you a free fitting if you buy the clubs, which they sell at the same price as everyone else.  But you might find out your clubs are the right length already, in which case you would just pay for a fitting.

Beyond shaft length, the other advantage of a fitting is that they'll measure your swing speed, and get the right shaft flex for your swing speed.

They'll custom fit you if you want.  You may have to wait a little longer to get the clubs if you need longer shafts.  I'm 6'5" and I get an additional 1.25 inches from the 'standard shafts'.  They'll look at your setup and how you seing and make their suggestion.

Golf. The one thing that brings the board together.

Thanks guys. Now which club makes the ball go farther and straighter?

For me, typically the one swung by someone else.

I finally got out to play the neighborhood course.  Still recovering from that nasty freeze, but a pretty cool course.  If you want to peek at it, it's Ironhorse Golf Club in North Richland Hills, TX.  It's pretty cool, their on-course bathrooms are old cabooses.  There are a few holes that are not very user-friendly.  They have this nasty habit of putting a creek or a ravine right in front of the green on 6 or 7 holes.  Nonetheless a pretty cool course and if I want to get in a quick round the commute to the clubhouse is less than five minutes.  I could actually walk to the clubhouse from the culdesac at the end of the block if I wanted to carry my clubs across the second, fifth, and sixth fairways.

Here's a Jag-related trivial annoyance.

Should the opportunity arise, keep an eye on Taven Bryan after a play. Every time he's in the game, it seems like he is adjusting his shoulder pads between every play. It's like he's not comfortable wearing them, like a kid forced to wear a necktie.

I noticed it once, and now I can't not notice it.

I guess it's too late now, but Drew Brees had this little shoulder pad thing he always used to do.

Well, I showed them all last night!!  I ordered some TaylorMade SIM Max irons online last night.  Hopefully they arrive before I go to AZ on 4/16.  Actually I'm hoping they arrive at least a few days before so I can swing them some.

I figure they'll improve my score by what...10...15 strokes?  I'll be on the Champions Tour in a matter of weeks.
