Your debate skills need work. Throughout the discussion the point has been that Kap is better than any QB on our roster. It's not that he's an amazing QB or anything. Simply that he's better than what we have. No mention of him being a GOAT or anything like that.

Bortles has thrown 69 career touchdowns, and has 6 additional rushing/receiving touchdowns giving him 75 touchdowns in 3 seasons. He's averaging 25 TDs a year with the Jags. His AVERAGE over 3 years beats the previous franchise record of 20 TDs that stood for years.
Kaepernick has 72 passing touchdowns and 13 rushing touchdowns over SIX seasons. He's averaging just over 14 touchdowns a year.
Hardly the dynamic franchise saver you seem to think he is.
For the record, I'm not claiming Bortles is anything to celebrate. But, this fantasy some here have concocted where Kaepernick is an upgrade is borderline laughable. He's not.
As far as him being better than Henne, who cares? How many snaps has Henne taken the past 3 seasons? The distraction alone that Kaepernick would bring to a backup role would be ridiculous. Without getting into the politics of it, it's clear that if he's signed by some team to play the backup, that franchise will immediately be accused of being racist for not anointing him the starter immediately, and will be under tremendous pressure to do so by outside interests who couldn't care less about the football aspect of his NFL career. No thanks.
Bortles has thrown 100 more passes than Kap has. He has less touchdowns in more attempts. He throws TDs at a lesser rate and throws interceptions at a much higher rate. His QB rating is much lower. He's much worse under pressure. To put it simply, he's straight up a worse QB than Kap, and a worse fit for what this team is trying to do.
No actually. As I've said already I don't think Kap is a top 10 QB or that he's a perfect fit to be a franchise QB for the next 8 years. He's a short term option at best. The argument is simply that he's a good bit better than Bortles and gives us a better chance to win than Bortles does. A fairly simple concept easily seen by watching both play and by also looking at the results of their play.
Well yeah that's the whole issue isn't it? That it's more than just football with Kap now. The whole thing has become such a media circus. I can somewhat understand teams not wanting that (even though it's a vicious circle , if he was signed earlier we wouldn't even be talking about him now). What I don't agree with is the blatant laziness in how he's talked about as a player , he's a good enough QB to play in the NFL as a starter for several teams and would be the best backup QB in the league.
