LOL, this thread is pure gold.
Desperation move? Hardly. Competition? I seriously doubt it. My guess is that he was brought in for a couple of reasons. First, they probably need another "arm" for practices and game planning. My guess is the original plan was to have that "extra arm" be Allen by planning to sign him to the practice squad. Since he got picked up by another team they had to find another arm. Second, he could be an "insurance policy" should there be a significant injury to Bortles and/or Henne. He's not going to be any better or any worse than Allen. The only way that he will be active on game day is if either Bortles or Henne has a significant injury. My guess is that he was signed to the active squad because he is probably ineligible for the practice squad. There are 10 kinds of people in this world.
