My impression of someone's programming who doesn't subscribe to services is of mostly just TV shows. If you want to watch some other type of programming then you have to access some other gadget or dark place on the internet to download or stream it. It's cheaper, but it also seems constraining and troublesome. How wrong am I?

The appeal is no contracts, no equipment, no fees. Gives you the feeling of joining a revolution and "sticking it to the man". If the offered packages support your TV viewing habits, then it makes perfect sense. If not, it doesn't. Like I said, I gave it a try, and it wasn't for me, but it is VERY close to being there.

However, if you keep jumping between cable/satellite providers, and get "creative" with who's name it is in, you can literally have "introductory" deals for a decade.
