Without getting too deep. I don't think American football is a colour-blind sport. There's pretty clear racial stereotypes involved in position selection and some of this starts extremely young in an athletes career.  

To me there can be a noticeable difference in how some black QBs are talked about vs white QBs by some analysts. For instance , Winston being called a "dual threat". Watson being called "immature" and "not smart enough to learn a playbook". Just look at the discourse of Manziel vs Lamar Jackson.    

Of course there's tons of other factors that go into those discussions like height, size, arm etc etc but I think it would be naive to say race is never a factor in the NFL. Most of it is subconscious too imo.
