I wouldn't say that. I know several people who are working multiple jobs, just to keep their heads above water. My cousin for example works 3 jobs at 3 different nursing homes. She works on average 70 hours a week and the poor girl is in the early stages of M.S., but she cannot afford to go on disability. She's a single mother of 3 kids. I've never seen such a hard worker. Just because people are poor, doesn't mean they are lazy.

My comment was never intended for people such as your cousin.

That doesn't take away that there is a large number of people abusing the system.  I know of quite a few.  Some getting SSI/disability as well as using an "Obama phone" for their phone.  They could get a job but why would they?  They don't live a lavish life but they get by alright and don't have to work a minute.
