This sentiment is usually correct, but, it was very, very wrong 50 years ago throughout the South.  White customers were taught to feel that they shouldn't patronize places that served blacks as equals, so, no such places materialized in many places.
I'm not saying the same thing will happen again but for gay people, but it's not hard to imagine certain organizations starting to teach that they should only do business with businesses that do not serve gays.

Today, it is 100% correct.

Especially in the knee-jerk mob mentality climate social media has created today.

Do something deemed "wrong" by the nutjob SJWs and you've got riots, boycotts, firings, doxxing, and even folks being physically attacked.

There are no "victims" any longer, just pretend victims.  The true victims are the ones in the sights and line of fire of the SJWs.  It's always about revenge ("equality" in the sense of spreading the "suffering" around) and never equal respect and treatment.
