CALLING THEIR BLUFF
|
What's the big deal about getting accused of shoplifting? I get accused all the time, so does my wife. We're careful shoppers who actually compare products, often pause a long time to read labels, sometimes even put something back on the shelf. Any theft-prevention professional will tell you these are traits common to shoplifters.
So what's the answer? Be a non-careful shopper who buys the wrong item? No. That would be silly. Instead, we simply ignore any accusations. Problem solved. Sometimes they choose to escalate. Kabuki theater but we seem to have forgotten our lines. When they realize they screwed up, we still always get a lecture as if we did something wrong and they're letting us go "this time" but don't let "it" happen again. They don't ever explain what "it" is. |
