Patriot Blood in the Water?

#1

I understand this may or may not be deemed as Jaguars related.  If so, I welcome a move to a more appropriate forum.  I thought it particularly relevant because it involves the team that knocked us out and the second game of the season-one Jaguars fans are looking forward to watching.

I'll be the first to admit I am no Belichick or even Scharnecchia.

But I see no way, shape, or form a guy 380 pounds has feet quick enough or fast enough to consistently pass block speed rushers like Ngakoue and Fowler (or for that matter Clowney or Mercilus the week before) without help.  If he were THAT big, and had quick enough feet to handle elite pass rushers, there is no way he would have lasted until the 7th round, there is no way the 49ers play him at RT, and there is no way the 49ers let him walk, even acknowledging teams can make mistakes.

To me, if he starts, either the Pats will live and die almost exclusively with short pass drops and quick passes, or they will have to adjust their blocking schemes to have fewer guys in the pattern.

If he is the starter, I go back to my statement that the Patriots would be more of a running team than they have been in a long long time, and would have difficulty playing the sort of offensive attack that has made them so successful over the years.  If they try to stick with what has worked, Ngakoue and Fowler could have huge games in week 2.

Worst to 1st.  Curse Reversed!

ABOUT US
The Jungle Forums is the Jaguars' biggest fan message board. Talking about the Jags since 2006, the Jungle was the team-endorsed home of all things Jaguars.

Since 2017, the Jungle is now independent of the team but still run by the same crew. We are here to support and discuss all things Jaguars and all things Duval!
