But the FBI doesn’t have jurisdiction. Even if they felt they had enough to charge him, they’d still have to refer to the local police department. Then they’d have to do their very own investigation.

If Ford wanted a formal investigation, she could simply go to the police. I don’t think she will because she doesn’t want a possible false reporting charge should it come out as blantantly false.
