What Trump ran on was the most solid type of barrier possible over the entire thousand plus miles of the border.

I think it will take more than protective enchantments to secure this border.

And other areas, all you need is patrol by vehicles and aircraft and maybe a few lookout towers per mile."  You've already changed your position, but what you now suggest is still woefully inadequate. More than a thousand miles of wilderness = millions of potential hiding places.  A light fence is only slightly more than useless.

The barrier is intended to protect us, why would you not want it to be as solid as possible?

I didn't upload the video so I didn't get to select the spelling. I did specify and personally tighten every single screw in that thing though, including the ones on the unseen mechanism that makes the rope move.

Wilderness may or may not have hiding places. It depends on if there are bushes or deep river beds or things like that. and some hiding places are better than others, able to sustain more people for a longer time. An air-conditioned building of course is the best hiding place at all. so wherever those are nearby it makes sense to have really high fences and barriers. 
A lot of the border wilderness doesn't have hiding places.
