I agree with you, Adam, that Trump was the worst possible choice among the Republican nominees, and I think anyone who voted for him in the primaries made a terrible, incorrect choice... but I won't speculate about why they did it.  They each had millions of different reasons.
But I have a lot more sympathy for the folks who voted Trump in the general election, when the choices were just, Trump, Clinton, or protest vote.

I will say, that frankly, my father, a man who was raised in South Carolina during segregation and the Civil Rights movement, who believes black people are mentally inferior to whites, that women need to be put back in their place because they know less than men, that all Muslims are terrorists--LOVES Donald Trump, because Trump represents him.  They speak alike.  They think alike.  And I say this believing that my dad is a good man.  He's friendly and outgoing, he'd never harm anyone intentionally if they didn't deserve it, he always made sure we were provided for and worked his [BLEEP] off.  But he's absolutely a racist and a misogynist, and those are the characteristics that most attracted him to Trump, because Trump "says what he's really thinking."

Not everyone voted for Trump because of this.  But a significant portion absolutely did.

I'm sorry that your father is a piece of crap. I really am.

A significant portion? That's just stupid to say. Based on what? Based on your father? Based on your tiny experiences in your tiny, insignificant life?

Seriously... my life and my accomplishments aren't much either - but to stand there and say this generalized crap is asinine and adds nothing of value to anything.
