NFL.com - Tom Coughlin: All Jags players should be at workouts

The question is not whether the comments are offensive, but whether they violate in fact  or spirit, the letter of the collective bargaining agreement to which the NFL's member teams agree to be bound.

I think the snide comments from the NFLPA and several players show it.

Frankly, this wouldn't be an issue if they weren't sensitive to his comments. Coughlin didn't attempt to force anyone or even imply that not attending would be held against players. This is a complete nonissue.

Considering how much Coughlin is a stickler for rules, and he has a firm grasp of the English language, he could have completely avoided language that could have even remotely created any doubt as to his message and intent.

Remember, this is the same coach who fined Tavian Banks and another player I can't remember for being late to a team meeting when their car flipped over on the Main Street bridge on the way to the meeting.  This is a man who has fined guys for wearing flip flops during the pre game walk through and has rules against coaches wearing shades during practice, players sitting on their helmets while on the sidelines during practice, and against player being a mere five minutes early for practice.  If anyone should follow the letter and spirit of any rule, it's Coughlin, even if he disagrees with it.  Failure to do so undercuts his entire message.

Worst to 1st.  Curse Reversed!
