Tom Coughlin: All Jags players should be at workouts
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000001...t-workouts Tom Coughlin said a few players were absent from the beginning of the Jags' voluntary offseason workouts. Jalen Ramsey and Telvin Smith are among players who have not be in attendance this week. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
This is a nothing article. Kevin Patra is a pathetic excuse for a sports journalist.

At some point you just have to let go of what you thought should happen and live in what is happening.
Missing in the article is the tone of voice that Coughlin instilled in his briefing today.

Oh geez...
They SHOULD all be here. He didn't say they had to be or inferred that by not being here something would or could happen to them. Stop asking Grandpa loaded questions waiting for his racist response. He is who he is and he's gonna say things his way. He didn't break any rules I don't think. Intent matters.
And to continue to blow it out of proportion, it now appears on ESPN's front page.

Response from NFLPA president:
Quote: Jaguars executive V.P. of football operations Tom Coughlin say that all players should be present for voluntary offseason workouts. The president of the NFL Players Association says that voluntary doesn’t mean what Coughlin apparently thinks it means. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/20...voluntary/

I expect TC to get a phone call or two and letters from the league and players assoc, but i wouldn’t count on much beyond that. We show less advertisements to registered users. It's not against the rules for Tom to say he thinks everyone should be there. It would be against the rules if forced or leveraged players to be there against their will, which hasn't happened

Especially given the fact that he’s been thru this before with the NFLPA.

The world and their wife knows Tom Coughlin would want everyone to be there, the players all know that, Jalen and Telvin know that. I don't think him verbalising it puts extra pressure on them , when they already know that's what he thinks (and almost every HC too) |
