What else were the supposed to do this year? Continue to plod along with Blake Bortles? Give up a handful of future draft picks to move up 5 or 6 spots to secure a QB like Kyler Murray? Or potentially reach on a prospect like Daniel Jones after leap frogging them by a spot or two?

There was no sense in investing in yet another rookie QB with this defense that they currently have intact. What we do know is that Foles is capable of stepping up in high pressure games. He's won a title. That's more than what can be said for anybody in this city outside of Tom Coughlin himself. 

Whether this pans out or not remains to be seen. But they had to make an effort at the QB position. This QB draft class was suspect at best. They blew it a few years ago when they passed on the likes of Watson and Mahomes. Can't look back now. If Foles flops? There's a possibility of landing Tua out of Bama', Herbert out of Oregon, Fromm out of UGA or Eason out of Washington. Or... they could ride it out another year and try to land Lawrence out of Clemson in 2021. 

At any rate. They had to take a shot. Would rather see a swing and a miss Vs. them watching the ball casually glide over the plate as they put the bat down and did nothing...
