They have an out after next year that will only cost them 12.5 mil to let him go. Which is more likely. 

However - I'm not certain that $33mil figure is correct if he's traded and not released.

Perhaps some capologists can chime in here, but I believe when the players is traded the former team is only due to eat that players pro-rated signing bonus money, not his annual salary.  Not sure if they are still on the hook for the total guaranteed figure after a trade as opposed to a release.
