I understand that. I am not really disputing that. What this suggests is that the idea is to move Jack to OLB. If that was the case then you draft a MLB as your "insurance". Not an OLB.

They had JUST SIGNED A MLB in Ryan. Why draft another MLB at that point. It's much easier  (and cheaper capital-wise) to draft a will than a mike and they knew (thought) Jack could pull off playing mike until Ryan was ready. 

I hope Ryan gets healthy and gets a shot in the middle.  Prematurely paying Jack is beginning to look like a major mistake.
